Question about freezing smoothies for later

Hi guys,
My blender is a ***** to wash, so I was wanting to make a big batch of smoothies all at once and freeze them for later.
But, I've tried this before, and it seemed that when I thawed them out the water kind of separated and they just got all gross. Do you guys do this? If so how do you avoid this problem and how long do you thaw them out before they're the right consistency?
Thanks!

  • I have a smoothie book and last weekend I made about 14 smoothies and put them in the freezer. They turned out great. I'm not sure what the ingredients are that you use but the ones I made only had fruit/fruit juice. I think if you made them with yogurt or milk they would get gross in the freezer. Maybe add your yogurt when you take them out?

You might try a bullet blender - I have one like that and its easy to wash. Otherwise, right after making your smoothie rinse out the container, put a little soap and hot water in and blend that ..... might make washing easier.
  • Yeah I think mine were mostly made with yogurt, that could be the problem!

And I never thought about running the blender with soap and water! That will make it a lot easier to get all the food bits out!
