Ive done so much research im going cross eyed! It seems majority of people on here recommed the polar FT4. I was reading some reviews on amazon that concerned me. This in particular:

"The main CON is that it does not give a reading of the calories you burn on the same screen that displays your heart rate, and can not access that number until the end of your workout session. Big disadvantage if you want to quit your work out once you reach a certain number of calories burned instead of just the amount of time you work out."

I find often at the end of the day ive gone over my calories so i exercise on my treadmil (which im not sure is very accurate) until i have burn off enough. Has anyone had this problem with the FT4 or is there a way and the person didnt know how to check it?

Thanks everyone:)

That comment is not true. There is a button on the top right that you can press anytime during your workout and it will show you how many calories you are burning. As a matter of fact you can keep it there and see that number the entire time if you choose.

I use my FT4 all the time!

You can scroll through time and calories - it just takes a second. So the info on being able to know you cals when you reach them isn't true :)

I love mine, don't know how I've been training without it really!!

The screen that shows the cal reading is different from the heart rate screen....i will say that BUT its not hard to go back and forth honestly. Its just the hit of one button....at anytime you want....

I usually leave it on that screen and when I end my workout (at anytime I like), it will give me all my readings...even the length of my workout, total cals...

    My FT4 is fabulous :)

okay youve all convinced me, i want one haha. I was just looking at the australian official site and it doesnt have amazon as an authorised dealer and so you dont get the warranty. Its hard cos its so much cheaper off there!

Talking about heart rate monitors would anyone recommend using a strapless HRM. I've been looking at a few on the net but are they as accurate?

From what ive read, no. Most comments i read were that they tend to over estimate. But ive never owned one so im not sure. I just bought the polar, cant wait for it to arrive :)

Yeah i'm looking at the FT4 or the FT7.

Have you ordered from a UK site? There seems to be quite a differnece in prices on differnet sites.
  • I'm pretty sure this is the HRM i have, once i start working out, i scroll down til i get to the part that has your HR and Cals burned, on the same screen, and i keep it up the whole workout without having to push any buttons.

you don't even need to use your other hand!
Hold the watch by your transmitter and it changes momentarilly for you to see the heart rate/cals burned.
    I love mine. :O)

I think that is one of those things that one or two people say, then others keep reading it and start posting it as gospel themselves. Eventually you have a bunch of people making completely incorrect statements about something.

It is so easy to switch between workout time, heart rate, and calories with the FT4. Highly recommended, and well worth the money I spent to make the purchase.

I got mine at Olympia sports, but I also know they sell them at Best Buy, and Sports Authority, and ****'s sporting goods... prices all the same. Just an FYI...I love mine too!
  • I got mine from good old Amazon.co.uk about £55 - which as far as I can see is about as cheap as you get and you can get free delivery too - most places are about £75
  • Yeah i'm looking at the FT4 or the FT7.
i have the FT4 and LOVE it. I didn't go with the FT7 because you cannot change the battery yourself , you're supposed to mail it in. Bizarre.

As everyone pointed out, the review comment is incorrect. Took me a moment to understand RTFM. LOL!!!!! hahahaha.....
