Mexican Food

Help! I'm going to lunch with some friends at a local mexican restaurant. I'm searching for nutrition values and cannot find much. Any suggestions on staying healthy? From what I've heard, even the 'healthy sounding' meals are just as high in fat and calories as my favorites.

Fajitas, especially chicken, are generally really good, assuming you don't smother them in sour cream and cheese, and get corn tortillas.
Or just do what I do and just eat the meat and veggies with pico on it, no need for the tortillas and other stuff!0 -
rice, no lard beans, soup, salad, hot sauce, corn tortillas, chicken fajitas, fajitas veggies with no oil, pico de gallo0

I get vegetarian fajitas, and order a box with it! Put half of your food in NO MATTER WHAT, and don't touch it! Also, like mariapuhl said, avoid the sour cream and cheese and all that. I load my fajitas up with lettuce and salsa/pico. Yum!0

I am going to eat mexican today and this is exactly what I am going to eat!! It may sound weird but I will even bring my own LF sour cream and even LF dressing w/ me when I eat out because I know it's better for me than what is at the restaurant!0 -
I do the vegetarian fajitas also but have not been able to find them on the MFP data base. I only find a vegetarian fajita burrito and it has like 800 calories. So I would say I have no advice there other than to just give your self a cheat day without going over board too much and enjoy.0

I get vegetarian fajitas and a to go box, put half of the whole beans, half the rice, and half the vegetables away before I start eating. I don't get cheese, tortillas or sour cream, and very little guac.
The vegetables in my favorite recipes: bell pepper, onion, mushrooms, broccoli, carrot. I guess about how much of each when I enter this in my diary (rather than trying to find an exact match in the database.)0 -
I had the same problem last night. After a day of running around doing chores, my boyfriend wanted to stop by a local burrito joint and pick up something for dinner. I finally gave in (after all, he isn't on a diet!), but had no idea what to order. I ended up getting a garden veggie burrito, which is a whole wheat tortilla loaded with rice, whole black beans, vegetables, soy cheese, and soy sour cream. I have no idea how to add it to my food journal! I feel bad for "cheating", but at least it was vegan (part of my diet), and at least I spent three hours dancing that same day! Any ideas for adding it-- do I just estimate the ingredients?0
