how many calories does shopping burn? we've all heard the phrase "shop til you drop" but it really is true; sometimes shopping is really tiring!! I went today for about 5 hours, but I can only enter it as "walking" Of course I was not walking the whole time, but i was trying on alot of clothes, and sometimes when you have a bunch of things you are carrying, it gets heavy! someone with a HRM who likes to shop should do some research on this. I know I had to have burned SOME calories from 5 hours of shopping, but "shopping" is not an option!

oh and when youre grocery shopping, If i'm only getting a little bit, I like to use the little baskets you carry, because then you have to work a little harder. Thats just a tip I do. I wonder if it makes a difference than a cart....

One of my MFP friends went to Canton today (think outdoor trade days on a massive scale) and she burned 892 calories in 5 hours. Granted, this was outside. So, I think that you definitely got a burn. How much really depends on you, your weight, your level of exertion, and other factors. Hard to figure without a HRM. But, I imagine it was a decent burn.

I'm the MFP. I had on my pedometer and was just going by what it said I burned, with over 13,000 steps. I do weigh alot and that is figured in there.
