well guys, i'm at the toning part of my fitness journey and i'm trying to develop my abs. now i know that six packs are made mostly in the kitchen, but as far as strengthening the muscles go, i've had a hard time feeling any soreness no matter how many crunches of all kinds i do. so i've made up my own ab routine for the next week, and i'm hoping to feel the burn! what do you guys think? are there any ab exercises you've done that you've found to definitely give you that good sore feeling? my lower abs are definitely my weakest point, and my obliques are strongest. here's my routine. i'll let you know how it goes!
20 russian twists with medicine ball
40 reverse/regular crunches
45 second plank, front and each side
leg scissors left/right with 4 second holds open and closed, 5x. (2x)
16 long arm crunches
16 windshield wipers
8 raise legs from floor to 90’ and lower slowly (2x)
15 knee pulls with exercise ball (2x)
13 captain’s chair
and repeat all of that three times.
i tried to pick all the exercises that are toughest for me, haha.

This may not quite be what you are looking for, but I've seen lots on here about breathing exercises in addition to strength training for abs. You tube vacuum abs for a demo...I've just started, so we will see!0

I have had quite a few problems with my back, and now I'm slowly getting back into working out. I don't want to do anything to hurt my back, but know that a stronger abdomen would help my back! So, anyway, I found these "back-friendly" ab exercises. http://www.ttfatloss.com/abdominal-exercises/exercises/ I haven't bought the TT book or videos, just thought that this was a good start for me - variations on plank etc.0
