Why do I always get the late night munchies?? I don't skip meals...so why is it that at 7 o'clock I struggle to keep myself out of the kitchen. I bought healthier snacks like special k bars and crispy minis but I always manage to track down my husbands unhealthy stuff. Obviously I have to ban anything unhealthy from the house but HOW do I curb these cravings?!

Been there done that! Mine's not night time but I have the same problem between 3-6 pm. I think for me it's emotional/boredom snacking. I just surf the pantry looking for something, anything. Sometimes I eat something and it just wasn't what I was looking for so I move on to something else. It's clearly not hunger so I have to remind myself of that. Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't. Having to log it in MFP definitely helps because the thought of having to record my grazings is enough to deter me.

Make tea at night before bed! It's a good way to wind down, get more water for the day, and there are MANY different flavors to choose from to mix things up. It helps keep you full instead of snacking on random stuff.

for me it used to be sugar, so I gave it up and the cravings stopped, I replaced it with protein snacks, nuts eggs etc or grapes. life is so much better now not thinking about chocolate all the time, that sugar is bad! goodluck

Whenever I feel like eatting and I know I'shouldn't be, that's when I log on to MFP. and see what everyone else is up to. I'm new to this site and It is already helping me ou so much.

I've always snacked when watching movies, so naturally if I now sit down to watch something I get instant munchies. It's just something u have to work through and then you won't think about it any more. I have a 2l bottle of water with me when I watch tv and sip on that instead. All it takes is some determination to not eat unhealthy, if u you REALLY feel like u need something just slice up some cucumber and nibble on it. Good luck!

Boredom - the silent killer. When I'm fidgety, I get munchy, so I find something else to do. I make sure I have some sort of low-energy, but fiddly project that I can do when boredom strikes (currently a patchwork quilt). If I do find myself wandering to the kitchen, I grab a cookbook and think of ways to make a family favourite healthier. If nothing's working and I'm desperate for something to chew on, I grab a stick of celery (nothing puts you off snacking like only allowing yourself boring snacks  ).

Well I gave in a little to my munchies.....had a few arrowroot cookies with my tea and a few Quaker Minis. I still came under my calories goal so not a total failure.
