Pulling an all-nighter? What do I eat?

I am a night-owl and I stay up til about 4-5 AM almost every day. If I have to get up early I usually stay up all night. So if I am not sleeping...how do I count my calories? By 6 AM I am hungry...then Ill be ready for another meal a few hours later and its STILL morning. Should I stretch my calories all through the next day?

OOOO.. this is a tricky one because I'm doing the same thing right now and trying to figure out what to do LOL. I have to stay up all night for my finals. Ummm... I would say eat small and healthy fiber filled snacks like fruit. Also I'm drinking lots of tea with caffeine in it. Looopppyyy. It's not a good habit to do every night though because lack of sleep can upset one's diet.0

Also I started recording my extra calories as being for tomorrow (today).0

are you getting 7 to 9 hours of sleep per day????? If you're not that will hinder your weight loss. as far as logging your meals, this should be a 24 hour window. if you are going to stay up then you need to exercise off those extra calories for those snacks. also add lots of protein and fiber to your diet which will help curb some of the hunger.0

You really need to make sure you're getting proper sleep. That's very important to weight loss. That being said, you can do midnight to midnight as your calorie counting. When I do late nights, it depends on what I'm doing. If I'm out boozin, I will add that into the prior day's calories even if it's after midnight, but if I stop somewhere to eat on the way home, I count that for the new day's calories. Either way, you're still getting the same calories (although, you'd probably consume less if you slept more).
I know it's easier said than done, but you HAVE to work on getting good sleep. Good luck!0 -
I do get good sleep-i just sleep during the day. This isn't an all the time thing, it's just every once in a while. I agree that sleeping is important..maybe Ill just eat my food for the day and then when I get home sleep the rest of the night. Im sure that will be easy!0

I work 3 - 12 + hr overnight shifts/week and switch back to days on days off. What I found works for me is log midnight to midnight...some days my 'breakfast foods are at 4-8pm other days it is 8AM - 12 noon. I found planning the day(s) out ahead also helps me ... and I eat "something" every 3-4 hrs while awake.
Hope you find your balance.0
