okay, so i have two girl friends that each have a different way of losing - i know that BOTH good diet and exercise is the best way to lose and see results, but i just wanted everyone's opinion on what they think is worse or better:
Eating very healthy, staying within calorie goal, with minimal exercise, or none at all. (not undereating)
OR
Exercising often and good, yet not eating the healthiest.
(lets say eating bad is concidered over on calories by 200-300 and NOT good calories LOL, or not even going over on calories but not eating the healthiest foods)
THIS IS FOR FUN! just curious to see everyone's opinion that they are entitled to - so PLEASE NO FIGHTING, or anyone trying to go all expert statistic on me, i know what the right thing to do is ...

My second wife was a great Raquetball player. Played everyday. At club she worked at as an Aerobics instructor. Also lifted weights and swam everyday. Great shape, but her diet was atrocious. Lived on Fried Mortadella sandwiches and garlic buttered pasta.
When she finally got that she needed to include diet with her exercise, her body made some pretty amazing changes in a relatively short time. You need to incorporate both.0 -
I lost the bulk of my weight with eating right & no exercise at all. Obviously, as you said, both is the best way - but if I had to choose - I'd choose eating right without exercise. Afterall, weight loss is 80/20 diet to exercise.0

I lost my first 30 with just diet. I would go with eating well over eating awful but exercising a lot. Now I do both though. Lol.0

Of course you already know that one without the other can only do so well, but for sake of argument, I'd say it really depends on your goal.
If your after that perfect body - then diet first. But if you're after most of the health benefits of a healthy lifestyle including how you feel and having energy & being able to be physically active... I'd say good exercise first. Although someone who works out a lot without much attention to diet will not ever get the six pack abs or overall ripped look, they can be very fit & feel plenty energetic with a casual approach to eating (assuming we're not talking about extremes like nothing but sugar & fat). Cuz really, you can get your basic micro nutrients out of fast food - you just get a lot of fat & preservatives along with it.
But obviously, both together is best.0 -

I started last year with exercise and only cutting soda & fast food out of my diet.
a month or 2 in and I started counting calories.
lately ive been feeling that was a mistake and should just go back to the way I was doing things0 -

I second this. About 3 years ago, I joined the gym trying to lose some weight. I didn't lose any weight because I didn't change how I ate, at the time. Also, after watching my step instructor remain overweight for months despite jumping around for hours was enough to get me to start eating healthy and the weight quickly came off..0 -

I'm all about the diet changes..Ultimately I don't want to be percieved as healthy and fall over with a heart attack from clogged arteries from eating Big Mac meals everyday for lunch0

I once worked with a trainer who said it doesnt matter how much of this (motion jogging) you do.. if you are doing this (motion feeding face) nothing will change. I believe thats true0
