hello,
losing weight properly for the first time in my 21 years and need exercise advice as i cannot afford the gym!
i am heavy but well proportioned and want to do exercise not only to aid my weight loss (on a plateau atm) but to make sure i am reletively toned once i start to get closer. Once i am smaller (and can afford it!) i will be getting a gym membership and sorting out a proper structured plan.
at the moment i do 4 20 min cardio workouts a week (i know its not terribly high but i have just started doing this properly and work long hours 7am-7pm- i wont be a workout machine over night!)
any ideas for workouts i can do at home to lose weight and tone? also it cant involve buying loads of kit cause i am really hard up atm but dont want to use that as an excuse!
gym gurus out there please help a girl that is trying to turn years of neglect around

For fitness and exercises at home try bodyrock.tv; most of her stuff is posted in youtube videos so they are free and make use of bodyweight exercises or common items around your house. She is pretty knowledgeable on her stuff to so no weird standing exercise ball cable curls or something that will make you face plant0

try doing full body exercises - or exercises that engage a few muscles at once. squats are fantastic - even just with your own bodyweight. pushups - if you can do them. or start on your knees. lunges are also great. you could buy a jump rope and do some skipping, gets the heart rate up and could even do in between your lunges or squats etc.0

Youtube is a great place to do at home workouts. If you have a certain person you like to workout with just do a search for them and if you dont the tone it up girls are good for workout tips just search tone it up. Also just running or walking stairs is good or zumba dvd's. Good Luck!!0

Pushups = they'll add muscle which increases your metabolism.
Start from your knees if you have to, work up to 15 a day.
good luck you can do it0 -
sure. bodyrock.tv is very good but it may be a little too advanced and long for someone just starting to exercise.
I would suggest checking out sparkpeople workouts on youtube. They are easy, short and most without extra 'tools'
I did those when I started working out again post-cesarian. Please check them out.0 -
You may want to check out bodybuilding.com They have numerous workout plans on there site I'm sure at least one will have little or no equipment.
Good luck with your goals.0 -

Kettlebells are cheap, and the workouts are HIGHLY intense - even if you can only do 15-20 minutes. I'd REALLY suggest having someone show you how to use it first, though.0

Bodyrock.tv Yes, their workouts are intense, but most of the time(especially in her older ones) she would give alternatives that a beginner can do! And she has a workout routine for absolute beginners - it's one of her way older ones, on http://youtube.com/charliejames19750

Since you're just starting out I think you'd do well with the Walk Away the Pounds dvd's. I have several of them and when I can't get to the gym they are a good substitute.0
