The first thing is to make sure you're eating the right foods. Just because you're under calories doesn't mean you're eating healthy. Then watch your sodium. A lot of folks don't realize that this is a silent evil to weight gain and hinders weight loss. Drink lots of water and make sure you take a multi-vitamin. But definitely make sure you're eating healthy. EXERCISE EXERCISE EXERCISE!!!! Also eating less doesn't make you lose weight. It puts your body in starvation mode so follow your plan.0

Sorry, their not annoying to me. I use caps at work all day and I'm just use to it.0 -
5 lbs is normal and healthy- idk if you can see on my profile but I went 4-6 for pretty much my entire time on here. Now that I am closer to a healthy BMI it's even slower- 2-3lbs a month.
Idk who you are looking at with 8 or 10 lb losses, (I only know 1 or 2 people, if that), but those are generally either non as sustainable or people who are much more overweight than I and so can safely lose that fast.
Just remember- even if it's slow, it adds up. 6 months in and I'm closing in on 35 lbs. Nothing to shake a stick at.
Slow and steady!0 -
Everyone loses at different levels. If you make your food diary public there may be suggestions to be made from that. Drink lots of water, eat LOTS of vegies and fruits.0

This is normal. Five pounds in a month is great! Just remember that people that lose a lot of weight really fast are more likely to put it back on again (plus some!).0
-
Listen to your body. That happened to me last month but I lost so many inches instead! Hang in there and best wishes!0

Oh yes I drinkn plenty of water and work out 5 times a week. I track my food, I have completely changed my lifestyle, eating fruits, chicken etc0 -
It also depends on what your weight is. If you are heavier, it is not unusual to lose 2,3 or even 5 pounds per week. As you get down into lower numbers the weight will come off slower. I agree to make sure you are eating all your calories and drinking water, and a little exercise may very well jump start some weight loss. Good luck!0

That is what is kind of confusing me, I currently weigh 224, and I have 84lbs to loose, that is a lot so I would assume a little more than 5lbs would come off per month.0 -

Haha WORD on the caps comment0 -
One thing that I did that I think really made a difference was NO sugar! I allowed one day a week for treats but the other 6 were no sugar days. Also I exercised 6 days a week for 60 minutes at a good intensity. I lost weight faster than when I have just counted calories. I love treats and it wasn't as hard as I thought it would be. Good Luck!0

You may not be eating enough- pay attention to your net calories, if they are too low, this could be slowing you down.0
-
I lose at about that pace. I drop about 5 pounds a month. I've hit a wall, so I know I have to change something in my routine.
Don't use anyone else as the standard you measure yourself by. You are you and don't worry about how much or little someone else loses.0 -
5 lbs a month is good just remember everyone is different keep up the good work0

you said fruits and veggies. make sure they aren't high sugar fruits and high carb veggies. too many of those will definitly slow you up.0
-
I would actually check your hormones, if they are off your body is not going to loose the weight... Also if you have dropped your calories drastically then you will have your body starve for the first few months before it starts dropping. Make sure your protein is good. I do not agree with everyone here as far as the healthy weight goes, with 90 pounds to loose you should be loosing 10 at least a month...Sorry, just my opinion.0

Sing it! Kinda thought it was a lil on the b****y side. I am sure you were trying to just be funny but it did come off kind of mean.:ohwell: I see that your still young, just a quick word of advice...and I really do mean this in a nice way, not trying to be condescending I just work with teens so I have to remind them of this all the time...just because you say something like that doesn't mean you have balls and are "super cool assertive" Part of having "balls" and being assertive is knowing when comments like these are appropriate and just plan idiotic. Just because you aren't afraid to say it, doesn't mean it should be said.
This is a support site. Lets not rip each other apart for UTTER NONSENSE! Also sometimes people's phones only allow them to type in all caps unless you go through a million steps to fix it and I personally would rather save that time and put it towards working out! haha0 -

I should start logging my texting time as exercise. I will wear my heart rate monitor to make sure I get an accurate count. Maybe make my own youtube vids. I will call it TEXTERMINATOR!0 -

The others have very good comments about nutrition, etc. I think 5 lbs a month is just about perfect. Don't worry so much about what other people have done. Everyone is unique and will lose weight differently. I have participated in work sponsored programs before. I noticed that the people losing 3-5 lbs the first few weeks were very large, typically 300 or more. Their loss would level off after that. Those with weight ranges like you and I lost fewer pounds from the start. Everyone's matabalism is different. Experiment a little with your exercize, food, etc., you may find that certain combinations work better for you.0 -
Back on topic....
Five pounds a month is great! Certainly nothing to sneeze at. Make sure you're eating enough. Sometimes people lose faster when they're eating more. I'm one of them. I was at 5# a month until I upped my calories a little, and now it's been 1.5 to 2 pounds a week, even though my settings are for less than one pound a week.
Also, be sure to drink lots and lots of water, and watch your sodium.0 -
