I lost a lot of weight when I first started 2 years ago. I had my daughter almost 6 years ago and didn't lose all that I should have. When I finally started losing weight I got pregnant with my son (who is 2). Over the past year I have lost 5 lbs then gained it back. Then lost and gain the same 5 lbs over and over agian. I can't break this rut!!! I've heard of plateaus but seriously a year??? I eat small portions and drink lots of water. I rarely go over my cals. I work out 3-5 times a week. I did my first half marathon back in October. So I was running 10-12 miles 3 times a week. And, I'm doing another half marathon at the end of March. Nothing works.

Any suggestion to jump start weight loss for my last 20 lbs?

Perhaps we could be better help if your food diary were public?

    I've been stuck for 3 months - I can't imagine a year!!

I sent and saw a nutritionist and a personal trainer last week to find out what I could do. The nutritionst looked at my food diary and everything else I was doing and recommended that I eat 1500 calories a day (or about) - every day. No matter what my burn is (I had been trying to keep a deficit of 500-750). She also told me to try to keep my sodium closer to 1500-1600 (but no more than 2300). She said to have protien with every meal and to get at least 25 g of fiber every day.

I already knew this, but they both told me it's very important to change up my routine. Do something different - and push the intensity. The body becomes more efficient and won't burn as many calories over time doing the same thing (I know this because now instead of burning 10-12 calories a minute, my bodybugg show me burning 7-8 calories doing the same thing at the same intensity). So if you've been doing the same types of workouts for a while, do something different. The trainer told me I should change my routine every 4-6 weeks. She said for me to work on interval training instead of working at a steadier intensity (even though I keep it high). So instead of 60 minute cardio sessions, I'm doing 30 - but I'll be doing more interval stuff. And add strenght work - and work HARD at it. Heavy weight so lower reps (you shouldn't be able to do it more than 8-10 times (if you can do 12, it's probably too light). And again - change what you do every 4-6 weeks.

I'm not sure if any of it will help you, but I'm sure hoping it helps me!! I'm sick of being stuck!! I can't imagine it being for a year!
