Hi. My name is Kerry. I am three weeks new to this program. I am having a hard time because I feel like I am not really seeing any results. I am eating better than I ever have. I put the scale away and only take it out on Thursday morning for a weigh in to see my progress. This morning I was shocked to see that I lost a WHOPPING 1/2 lb from last week. That brings my total weight loss to 2 lbs for three weeks of eating and exercising obsession! I am not sure it is worth it. I am just feeling really low. Today I added my measurements. Maybe I will see more results that way. I am very active however I always have been. The eating right is the challenging part for me. Why am I not seeing more results?!

How does this play out with regard to your target calories and how much you are actually consuming in a day? Healthy food =/= weight loss, unfortunately, or I would not need to be here.
If you are going over, the reasons are obvious. But if you are way under, then you might be going into 'starvation mode' in which case the body stores everything it gets. Basically, you should be getting about 1200 cal per day.
It's possible you might have had a low water retention the week before and a high water retention the next week you weighed. I've seen my weight fluctuate 3 lb one day to the next, so maybe instead of 1/2 lb, you actually lost 2 lb once you factor in water retention.
Sometimes, people hit a plateau where it's just hard to lose for a bit. I just got over a bit longer than a week trying to break 205, then wham!, today I'm down to 202.5. Sometimes in a case like that it's good to indulge in some healthy eating in excess of your target calories. This is purported to give your metabolism a 'kickstart' and get you over the hump.0 -
I feel your pain.........I started last week. Weight problem my whole life. I just got to get back into the swing of things. I'm eating better, just got to get motivated to excercise, everyday I tell myself I'm going for a walk, but I fight with myself and seems like I always lose.:explode:0

Hi Kerrycwill,
Are you exercising more? It could be that you are gaining muscle while losing fat. The best way is to go by mesurements and not by the scale for short term. Muscle weigh more than fat and is denser than fat, so if you are losing inches and not pounds, you may be gaining muscle, which is a VERY good thing, as muscle will increase your metabolism.0 -
hey, I know what it's like to not see results. I have hypothryiodism so my body weight increases and decreases if i have to much med's or to little meds. I think it's important for you to know that doctors are now saying that the BMI index is incorrect. The body mass index only takes age, weight, and hight into consideration. It doesn't matter how much you weigh, becuase a perfectly heathy, skinny person can weigh alot more than they look. Muscle is more dense than fat. Doctors have found that for woman over 15 the healthy waist line is 32 inches or under. For men 36 inches or under. I'm 5'8.5, a teenager over 15, and weigh alot more than i should. my healty weight according to the BMI index is 130-162lbs. so if i weigh 163 i'm at risk. my goal is 150 so I'm somewhat agreeing with the BMI, but i'm not. becuase i'm aiming for a waist size of 32 inches. heres an article i found that really made since and motivated me.
