Not saying one should purposely skip breakfast...should you try to make up the total day's calorie intake in the rest of the meals, or keep to what you would have had left if you had eaten breakfast...in other words...thinking it isn't that great to eat a huge amount of calories for dinner, just to get your calorie intake for the day.

I would try to get the amount you are supposed to, even if you happen to miss breakfast. Your body still needs that fuel.

I try to eat a little every couple of hours so I"m not ravenous.... but, additionally, I try to eat my calorie allotment, even if there's a large meal and small snacks rather than 3 regular meals.

I think I'd have a difficult time, without seriously changing what I'm eating, making up a lot of calories at the end of the day.

eat your calories. Make it up later in the day. I was horrible about breakfast and still have my days, but then I do a protein shake or something.

Just try to eat 5-6 small meals a day. You don't have to have 3 big meals to feel like you have had a meal. Smaller meals boost your metabolism But to answer your question if u skip breakfast then eat normally 3-4 hours after your normal time to eat. For example if you skipped breakfast then eat lunch at you schedule time then 3-4hrs after lunch have a piece of fruit and so forth. if you consistently eat smaller meals and snacks you won't neeed to eat bigger meals for lunch or dinner.

Miss a meal... that's funny, I'm 51 years old and I have to say that's yet to happen, but I'll let you know if it ever does.

I am bad to skip breakfast because I don't "feel" hungry. Now I just make myself do it, then do my workout. I feel much better. Buy somethings that you can fix quickly and make a point to eat. One that I do a lot is a thing of light yogurt and 1/4-1/2 cup of granola. Filling and it stays with me!

    Ha-Ha!

I suppose if I did miss a meal I would take the opportunity to eat something a little more caloric (and healthy) at dinner to make up the difference.

OK, I really don't mean to miss a meal; and this only happens occasionally! Usually I try to eat 5 times a day, and am usually successful with it. But, occasionally, I get up late, or something else happens, and I end up eating my first meal closer to lunch than breakfast, and I end up eating fewer times in a day than normal....so do I make up for the loss by eating more during those meals or just eat normally for the day I have to eat in...maybe a bit more???

Yes, you should get your calories in for the day. If you cut too many calories you aren't doing yourself any good.
  • I have the same question because I usually wake up at lunch time so normally I skip breakfast. What happens is that I eat breakfast at 12pm, lunch at 6pm and dinner at 12midnight. But the thing about the dinner part is that it's usually a K bar and some milk because it has been drilled in my head that eating at night is bad. I eat most of my calories in my breakfast and lunch.
