Now that i am pregnant (5 weeks) im struggling with not losing weight and the number on the scale. i have not yet adjusted my calories. I'm still eating 1,200 calories. Should i be eating more? But i know i shouldn't gain too much weight my first trimester.

You should really find a doctor and ask them about prenatal care. A good obstetrician can help you eat the right kinds of foods and right amounts. Ask a friend who's had a baby if she has anyone to recommend! Your starting weight and fitness level will definitely factor in to what you should be doing.0

Please, please talk to your doctor about this! (Also, "What to Expect While You're Expecting" has a great section on nutrition.)0

Pregnant women should be consuming 300 calories more.
So whatever your weight was before you were pregnant or even now as your not that far along, change your goals to maintain weight.
Or in other words look at how many calories you burn per day and add 300 to that and that is what you should be eating daily.
So if 1200 calories is what you should be consuming to maintain your weight (NOT lose any), now that you are pregnant you should be eating 1500.
Hope this helps and Congratulations!0 -
i just had my daughter 3 months ago. my doctor told me to eat 200 extra calories in the beggining and then to slowly increase. i would ask your doctor, everyone says different. dont try to loose weight, just eat healthy and excersise0

eat an extra 200-400 calories ....just make sure they are nutritious foods vs junk....when i was pregnant with my two oldest kids...who are by the way a year and a week apart i had this idea stuck in my head that i was literally EATING FOR TWO!!! so double the portions and tons of junk...i regret it so much...i didnt know and was so clueless and gained over 120 lbs in little over 18 mos!!0

Oh my gosh-DO NOT TRY TO LOSE WEIGHT WHILE PREGGO. This could do not so good things to your baby. However you can maintain. There is a website called babyfit.com and that takes into account you being pregnant or breastfeeding. Please log on here and like others have said-talk to your doc. You can still work out, but at this point you will not lose weight-you want to see a gain. It will be good if you keep some kind of activity going and with eating what you should, you shouldn't have a huge gain, but again you do want to gain!!0
