I've been intrigued by the P90X program, but I'm seeing a lot of reviews that suggest that if you're not in good shape, you start with Power 90. Can anyone confirm or refute? I'm not in great shape right now. I'm working on that, but more importantly, I really want to lose weight. Any success stories? And, can anyone tell me how it compares to Zumba as far as weight loss? Thank you!

you don't have to do the actual p90x program... i do them when i workout when i need something different. they are defiintely hard but it's a challenge to work up to. if you are out of shape, jumping into something liek that is going to be hard to maintain afterwards. i recommend that you start off slowly so you ease into it vs shocking your lifestyle with the diet exercise. p90x is more towards strengthening but the Insanity is more cardio. we have both and when i need to do more cardio, i do the insanity & then i do the abs, plyometrics, cardio, kenpo (or whatever it's called) to change it up. a mix keeps me from being board. and then just cutting out the crap foods i used to eat is working. i don't want to say i'm 'dieting' because this new eating style is something i know i need to maintain forever

** and you can always modify the p90x by only doing arms or legs or modify the exercise to accommodate your fitness level. don't let it scare you. but the warm up alone on insanity get my heart rate up there

I lost 50 pounds on first round of Power 90. I then went on the P90X. And then another round. And then on to MMA training. Check out my pics for confirmation...

Power 90 is an excellent starting program. My husband and I are on day 39 and the results are amazing. In the first month I lost 10lbs and over 10 inches. My husband also has lost 12lbs in one month.

I do zumba a couple times a week but find that the consistency of the Power90 program is much easier to follow. I find that for me the moves are harder to learn on zumba so I don't think I am quite getting the full workout of the program yet. It's definitely fun though, that's why I try it a couple times a week :)
  • While I like Zumba, I do find the moves tricky to master. Also, past experience trying to lose the weight has taught me that I'm impatient. :) I know I need to lose safely and healthfully (which is why I'm working with a nutritionist) but I also tend to get discouraged if I don't start seeing results after a 3-4 weeks. I think I really need something that can deliver and one of the things I do like is that 1.) it's regimented and 2.) I don't have to spend hours. Like many, many others, I've got a pretty demanding schedule. I know it's up to me to prioritize exercise, but I'd really like my core exercise most days, to be under an hour if I can manage. It'll make it much easier for me to stick to it.
