Hello,

I've just joined and thought it would be good idea to meet fellow dieters to help motivate myself (and vice versa).

About Me:

My name's Simon, I am 22 years old and I weigh 287 lbs.

3 years ago I weighed a little less than I weigh now and decided i'd had enough of being so overweight. I decided I needed to diet seriously and restrict myself to a really small amount of food. I tried the Atkins diet and lost 5 stone in 3 months! It's fair to say, I literally starved myself, I ate a small meal every other day, blacked out a few times and made myself sick whenever I drank alcohol. Then I came to uni and slipped right back into my old ways, I don't know how or why, regardless i'm really unhappy again.

I decided I can't go on the Atkins diet again, I don't think I even could! So i've decided to be sensible and give the healthy method a chance! I'm eating all the right foods, but restricting myself to 1,200 calories a day....which feels suffice in the hunger sense.

I'd really appreciate encouragement from people in a similar situation, and possibly make some friends in the process....so add me :)

i did that whole starvation thing when i was around 18, eating about 200 calories a day and burning 5000. i messed myself up pretty bad though, and i'd never do it again. now that i've decided to be healthy and lose weight, i've tried to educate myself as much as possible. i'm no professional, but you should definitely try to eat the recommended calories that this website gives you. 1200 calories is the minimum you should eat, and it's probably a little higher for men. a lot of people's weight loss slows down if they eat too little, so adding a couple hundred calories with make u feel less deprived and show you better results. good luck with everything, this website is awesome :)
