Strangest part of this thread: 3 hours on the treadmill. WTF!!

Guy was just probably hoping he'd get a turn in this lifetime... Subtle hint if I start putting all my crap on her machine maybe she'll finally get off!

Ha ha, I though this. My gym has a 30 minute limit on the machines.

Yep, I think he was definitely giving you a "not-so-subtle hint' that after 3 hours, it was time to let the other kids play on the machines...

Chew his *kitten* out and inform management. You pay your dues too and shouldn't have to tiptoe around that *kitten*. Be bold and stand up to him....

Today at the gym a guy was checking out my nether regions while I was doing my inner thigh abductor workout on the machine... I looked over and said "Excuse me? Is there something I can help you with?"

He got the point and moved on. I'm there to get my burn on... not have you stare at my crotch. Jerks.

Men can't help it. Their DNA demands that they look when a woman has her legs spread open. If they don't, they risk systematic cellular implosion and sudden, gruesome death.

Just stay off those machines and do squats, lunges, and deadlifts instead. They're a million times more efficient anyway :)

This!^^^^ Every. Single. Word. But especially the last 2 sentences. Those machines are not your best bet.

I wonder how you can complain about his disregard of gym rules/guidelines without noticing your own...3 HOURS on the machine?!?!

i cant stand when these dudes who try to lift way too much, just to look all macho, strain and grunt so loud and then drop their weights on the floor with a big bang. when I am working out i get into a zone and a loud noise like that snaps me out of it. its so annoying. Or when guys dont put up the weight plates when they are done. Like with the smith machine or press, they just leave them on the bar.

I usually would not say this but this time i think it calls for it. Report him to the Gym. You both pay to be there if his actions are going to create an enviroment you are not comfortable in chances are others feel the same. They may ask him to leave which sounds like will be good for all. Sounds like a jerk to me

to be honest, at the moment I was exhausted... I'd been on the machine for almost 3 hours and was winding down my day and getting ready to go home I just wanted to sleep... speech was unattainable even at that second...I know if i see him again I'm probably going to because that's ridiculous. lol

just wondering if these three hours was during peak time? some gyms have a "limit use of machines to 30/60 minutes during peak hours."

if we're going to complain about rule breakers.

With ya. I'd say lifting muliples of body weight get's a little slack as long as its not the showing off factor. And, who give that poster the say in what is too much?? WTF?

exactly. i try and limit the grunting to the last rep or two. man, sometimes the only way the barbell moves is if i grunt!!

    Word. :drinker:

eta: If the poster thinks a little grunting and dropping weights is distracting, what would it be like to fail on the last rep and drop the whole mess on the safety bars? Now that's distracting! Not that er.... well I've seen other guys do it! :blushing:

Even stranger, the gentleman who revived the thread from the dead just signed up this month and this was his first and only post - thread resurrection. How does that even happen?

Wait, is this happening at the gym or inside your apartment? You spend 3 hours on a machine in one day you should be paying rent, not fees.

Quick, somebody start a thread about rude people that monopolize equipment at gyms.

I can't believe the thread made it this far without someone addressing that she was on the machine for THREE hours!!!

How does it happen? It happens because he's one of those rare geniuses that actually uses the search feature. It's so rare around here that a new person uses search that it caught us off guard. Well, that's my story and I'm sticking too it.

If you aren't straining and grunting you aren't lifting enough.

Hahahaha. Gotta admit the search feature proved nearly invisible to me when I got on here the first couple er few...errr several million times. Hopefully the fact that the OP was so long ago nobody is in any danger of offending anyone here.

    That being said.

I have had migraines of COURSE people are gonna stare whether they are spanish speakers or not, (why was that relevant? por que?dime!). I used to look like rocky with one eye swoll shut during a migraine.

Yeah people who sweat are stinky, they just are, and yeah that's gonna happen at a gym.

If i stopped working out in the worry that some guy might look at me or my behind (a more popular destination than my crotch on thigh machines) I'd never work out. I say if a guy is staring at my crotch when I'm trying to do whatever is done on a thigh machine, "why are you staring at my crotch?", loud enough for anyone without earphones to hear. may buy me enough personal space and less googly eyes from everyone forever at said gym, in one brief moment with little vocal expenditure. then place sunglasses or hoody on to claim private personal space and close the "discussion" and resume workout.

finally I grunt when I workout, i gotta lotta body/booty to move right now, i'm sorry and yeah sometimes even some almost bad words and (oh the horror) spanish come out. i warn my trainer before this. it's a gym, things are gonna get messy, and multicolored. the end.

It seems a lot of people are just too prissy to be at the gym.

Exercise at home, or perhaps outdoors somewhere where there won't be anyone around but you. If you can't handle grunting (I grunt during those final reps), weights being dropped, sweaty people who don't smell like perfume...then a gym is probably not the place for you. If you want to stay in "the zone" while you work out and not be disturbed by any loud, sudden noises or people sweating, you're gonna be unhappy at the typical gym. Find a very special "gym" or buy yourself an elliptical and do your 3 hr cardio workouts at home.
