I am in need of a new voice recorder for school. My old one is toast. lol The recorder I am looking for will fit the following descriptions:

1. at least 8GB memory (or capable of holding at least 8GB mini SD);
2. Super High Quality recording with very high sensitivity (able to adequately record a professor's voice from 100+ feet away in a lecture hall);
3. USB port for connecting to laptop to transfer files;
4. ability to charge the device through the USB port using the laptop;
5. ability to pause recording without creating a new file (for breaks); and
6. hopefully between $0 and $200.

Hopefully I am not asking too much. :)

I am hoping there is someone here on MFP who has used a voice recorder in a lecture setting, and that this person will be able to suggest a great product for me. :) Thanks for any suggestions or product reviews that you may post here. Please post the make and model of the device you suggest. Thanks.

Lauren

    I'm in a class on acoustic phonetics and we were talking about the type of microphone to get for recording voicecs and all. I know you're probably going to want one with a higher hz range. And, I believe one that states dual channel, or something like that. Pretty positive that the single channel is just for voices that are right in front of you, but the dual would be one that would capture voices at a distance. I don't have my notes home with me, and I'm on Spring Break, (and I'm auditing the class, so I've been missing the last couple of classes). I'll have to check when I get back.

    I hope this helps...if not, sorry. :)

    Have fun on Spring Break! Would you mind messaging me when you get back from break with a couple of suggestions? I would really appreciate it! :) Thanks.
