Trouble with measurements

I got fed up with my scale for being inconsistent (like saying I gained half a pound in 10 seconds when I double checked), so I bought a tape measure. I've only tried measuring one area and already I have a problem. I tried to measure the smallest part of my waist. I measured it 3 times to make sure I got the same number, but it varied up to half an inch. What's the secret for getting consistent measurements?

I use my belly button for a guide and say so many inches above it. also I measure at my belly button. as for thighs you can go X inches above your knees or down from your pelvic. hope this helps

p.s. it might be time to invest in some new scales

Basically have a starting point and measure the length between your starting point and where you will measure, for example if your measuring your thigh, I measure 4" up from my knee and that is where I measure every time.

For my thighs I measure around the little pooch of fat that is furthest up my leg....

As for your waist the previous poster is about spot on. Measure yourself from your belly button. or loop the measuring tape around you and drag it up and down until you either find the smallest part of your waist or the biggest depending on what you are trying to track, and then do this each time.

Its not too hard once you figure it out, just keep practicing.

I measure my calves thighs, hips, natural stomach (bellybutton line) waist bust and arms.
