NSV Resting Heart Rate

In the past few weeks I've been a little discouraged with my workouts. I seem to work my *kitten* off yet my HRM says. "Guess what you worked out for over an hour but you only burned 540 calories". Thinking maybe I was only under the impression I was working hard I started working harder by increasing my resistance on my spin bike or walking up that hill on the treadmill. After much thought and deliberation I decided maybe it was time to recalculate my Target Heart Rate zone. Last time I used a resting heart rate of 58 which is a great heart rate for an adult (normal is about 60-70 professional athletes can have an RHR of 40). So this morning I woke up and put on my HRM and after a few fluctuations I've found that in the past month I have gone from a RHR of 58 to 49!!! No wonder I'm not tearing through the high calorie burn at the gym, I have only been working at the bottom of my THR zone because my calculations have been off. I may not be as thin as I want to be but it feels great to know I'm improving my health at an amazing rate!
