So this morning, out of pure curiousity, I hopped on the scale, and lost 3 pounds in 2 days. HOW IS THIS POSSIBLE?!?!?!?! I normally work out every day, and my workout buddy is currently in California, soooo I've not gone...(I know, I know, bad lindsay-ann!) But in a normal WEEK I lose about 2 pounds, so how is it in two DAYS I lose 3 pounds? I can't comprehend this! help!

Could be water weight you've lost, could be your muscles aren't inflamed. Who the heck knows. That scale is a tricky little *kitten* and likes to mess with our heads. Sometimes I lose a ton, sometimes I lose nothing --- and I do nothing differently!! It's the long term trend that matters.

What does water weight mean? Does that mean i'm drinking too much water or not enough or I just need to pee?! I hear people saying that all the time, but I can only nod in agreement just so I don't look dumb!

Weight can swing up to five pounds either way in one day based on hydration, water retention, sodium intake, hormones, etc. This is why some people don't weigh themselves every day.

Had you just been to the bathroom? Where are you in your cycle? That's why a lot of people don't weigh in as often. There is too much fluctuations day to day.

    So what you're saying is...that this could be a fluke....and I really didn't lose 3 pounds....

Could be. Or your body could have been holding on to some water it finally let go. The point is, don't get too hung up on daily fluctuations, but concentrate on the long term trend. Generally, when the scale goes down, it stays down for me, but when it goes up, it comes down pretty quickly.

How long have been tracking your weight?

No you did, what they're saying is you may have been retaining water before hand and now you're not. Sometimes when I allow my body to rest, is when I notice bigger losses (for a while anyway). WTG!!

Consistently since January, I've been weighing weekly, but sometimes I get frustrated, or don't want to wait til Sunday to see how i'm doing. I try not to get hung up on the day to day, but it's really hard when my first ever bikini top is staring at me from the closet! I've lost 24 pounds since last year, but still have 36 to go, it just seems insurmountable sometimes! And I don't know if I'm doing everything right!

I hopped on the scale again this morning, just to alleviate my fears and keep me from stressing out so much, annnnnd THE SCALE STAYED THE SAME AS YESTERDAY!!!!!!!!!!!

This means that when I write down my weight on hospital forms, I can stop using a 2 as the first number! This is so exciting!
