I am doing Diet2Go with mfp but would like to speed this process up some more. I currently go to the gym everyday and work out on the elliptical for 30-40 minutes then do a small, and i mean small amount of weights (usually sit ups)
Anyone with some suggestions as to if i should be doing more cardio or what to help out?

I would vary your workouts and not do the same thing every day. When I did this, my weight loss stopped because my body was so used to it. If you have time to workout at home I would suggest Turbo Jam. You don't need a lot of space and it's fun! The original set includes 6-7 workouts in varies lengths so you can do an hour or just 20 minutes!

check out www.collagevideo.com if you want to search for a lot of different DVD options. They also have clips of most of their workouts so you can see what you might like before you buy!

Defenitly more cardio if your wanting to lose weight! I did 1 -11/2hrs of cardio almost daily when I first started and then I'd also do 30min of weights not just ab's but all areas.

Read up on tabata. Also, you probably need to do more strength training.

Add more weight training. Muscle burns more calories in the long haul....they say for at least 24 hrs later. Plus with cardio and weight training, you will be strong and lean. You wont bulk up...there are lots of informative articles on internet for the subject. I started the 30 day shred with Jillian Michaels...this has proved very beneficial for me...Whatever you choose, good luck reaching your goals:)...Teash

Don't increase the amount of steady-state cardio you are doing. Integrate some interval training into your cardio. While on the elliptical, add about 15 minutes on the very end of your workout, where you increase the intensity so that it feels like a sprint for about 20 seconds, then return to a normal pace. Wait a few minutes for your heart rate to return to it's medium range, then sprint again. Try to get in 5 or so sprints.

Afterwards, if you have another 15 minutes, do an interval circuit where you do jumping jacks for 30 seconds, jog for 60 seconds, do sit-ups for 30 seconds, jog for 60 seconds, jump rope for 30 seconds, jog for 60 seconds, et cetera. You'll burn a lot more calories from this additional 30 minutes of exercise then you would from doubling your time on the elliptical.

As suggested above you need to switch things up a bit, more so when you get close to your goal. I also would suggest looking into Interval Training, Tabata training (a type of Interval Training), and Metabolic Resistance Training. All of them will burn more calories than the Elliptical, and better yet, all of them continue to burn extra calories after your workout by raising your metabolic rate. In the case of Metabolic Resistance Training, I have heard it can raise your metabolism for up to something like 36 hours. I do Tabata thrusts every other day, and for a 4 minute workout it is a killer. On the off days I do other stuff either Tae Bo, Insanity, Circuit Training with weights (probably I will switch that to Metabolic Resistance Training which is similar), or straight weight lifting. Basically I switch things up a lot right now.
