Hello everyone! I'm a first time internet dieter...if that's what it's called! I've been over weight before but this is the most I've ever weighed! Usually I've been able to just eat right and loose the weight, but this time it's not budging! So I've decided to try counting calories...and i must say it's not that bad doing it online! i remember my mom doing it and having this ancient book that she would look everything up in. She would also weigh all her food, which I don't think I could be bothered to do. So this seems to be the perfect solution, as long as I'm honest on here! I like to lie to myself about what I eat, or eat mindlessly and not even realise I ate so much! So now that I'm conciously making an effort at this, I hope it works! Anyways, here's to taking off the weight!:drinker:

    Hi Melly:
Welcome! It's been a busy day for me so didn't get on here sooner, but saw you didn't get the traditional everybody saying hi. Fridays, ya know. Good luck!

Welcome! I'm also quite new but am incredible impressed by the support that these boards offer, as well as the visual gratification i get from the food diarys!

    Good luck!

    Welcome to the site!

I would recommend you get a scale and weigh your portions. How else will you know how many calories you are consuming? It seems like a pain, but it is not so bad. After a while certain things you just get to know and won't need to weigh each time. I got a good digital scale with Tare function (adjusts for the weight of the dish) that works in Oz or Grams for about $25. It might be the best single thing I have done to help me reach my goals.

Yeah, yeah - the little food scales are great! Go to Amazon and read about them - they get reviews from the buyers on Amazon, too. I bought one like razbo for $30 including shipping and it has been a great investment. I use it every meal.
