How Long?

Hey everyone! I know that weighing yourself on a regular basis is a huge motivator to losing weight...seeing that number drop is a huge reward. However, I don't have access to a scale on a regular basis. I am in college and I only weigh myself when I go home...every 5 weeks or so. This makes it really hard because I don't have anything tangible to look at and see that I am doing well and on the right track. I was wondering if anyone else has this problem, and if so, what do you use for inspiration? Also, how long should it be before I start seeing changes in the way my clothes fit and the way I look? I've been working out every day for the past 10 days and have been eating better. Is this too soon to notice changes? I need some motivation since I can't check in with a scale!

You can get a scale for less than $20, and you should have one in the gym at your school no?0

u can buy a pretty nice and very accurate scale for 10 dollars at walgreens they are thin and compact and u could keep it with you at college to weigh in0

Take your measurements! They will help give you some indication of your progess as well. In the first two weeks I managed to lose a total of 3" all over--and all you need is a tape measure and a little patience0

I agree thay a scale is pretty inexpensive, and a great investment. That being said a sewing tape measure is even cheaper. I you seriously cannot buy a scale then measure yourself. Smallest part of your waiste, thighs, upper arms ETC. Anywhere you are concerned about losing weight. Once you see inches go you'll be motivated.
Ooops I see someone just posted that!0 -
I do have a tape measure! I'm going to take my measurements tonight! Thanks guys!0

If you can't afford a cheap scale at the moment, maybe check around with your neighbors or friends at school. Maybe you can borrow one...maybe someone has one they don't use?
Check garage sales, or mention it to family when you go home. Maybe someone can help.
In the mean time, taking your measurements is a great idea. In fact, sometimes a scale will tell you that you haven't lost any weight, when a tape measure will so you otherwise (if you are building muscle, you can appear more lean, but still weigh the same).
Or maybe you have a tight pair or pants or a dress that you wish to where someday and you can try it on occasionally to see how close you are getting...? How I feel in my clothes is often more important to me than obsessing about a number.
Good luck!0 -
Do they have a scale at the University's fitness center? Most gyms have those scales like you see at the doctors. It will give you an idea of where you are, but remember when you weigh and what you wear does effect the numbers.0
