Yep, not enough, your body will burn better and keep it off after if you try about the 1200! Really, it does work! And at 500-600 you might lose quick but you're risking quick health problems too!

yes, that is too low for a human body to funtion. Most people dont think that breathing or talking does take energy. so your body will go into starvation, very quickly on this diet. I personally know this, its a horrible feeling when you crash.. if your looking to just loose weight but not go to the gym or work out i would consume about 1000 to 1100 at the least.

Your NET calories should be at least 1200 calories- I personally feel more comfortable (alert, less cranky) at 1300-1400 but that's me-

Try calorie dense foods- nuts, fruits, avacado, dairy to bulk your numbers up. What on earth do you need low-cal filling foods for? You need more cals, not less!

Check out my food diary- it's not perfect but it's a decent balance of healthy and tasty and will get your cals up.

protein & fiber are great! i have a chicken salad i eat for lunch everyday that is 188 cals, i can send you the recipe if you'd like just pm me to let me know. if you eat foods that are high in protein & fiber, it will help you feel more full. real fiber though, not fiber added foods.
if you stick with healthy meals, you should be able to eat 6-8 small meals/day and make 1200-1300 cals daily. if you don't, your body will shut down.

also, white carbs are really bad but whole grain carbs contain a lot of fiber and are very good for you.

please post your chicken salad recipe. I'd like it too. I'm getting tired of 1/2 sandwich for lunch.

Not trying to he harsh but if you are going to use the MFP system you should really follow the plan as it suggests based on the information you entered at the beginning. Many people have had great success following the plan. Just give it a chance...and definitely increase your calorie intake.

1200 BARE MINIMUM. I also recommend doing 5-6 smaller calorie meals eating every 2-4 hours.

Keep in mind, it is not only about losing weight. You are trying to be healthy too right? Your body needs 1200 NET calories after exercise minimum to fuel your body!
  • The feedback as you can see is that is no where near enough. Let me share this. Ideally you want to keep your motabolism high, to do that you need to eat, and it's better as the last post indicated to eat smaller portions more often. Maybe try 4 meals at 300 calories for a while ;)
