Is it ok to eat a 32g protein bar 1 to 1.5 hours before card

I'm going to the Gym in about an hour. I'm just going to do about 45 minutes on the elliptical. I'm so hungry right now though.
I'm eating a MET-RX Protein Plus bar. Is this ok to do before a cardio workout?

In some cases I'm reading that it's good to have a protein bar or shake before a workout. Other things I've read say it's bad to have protein if you're trying to lose fat/weight because you'll just burn that protein instead of the fat.

Can anyone shed some light?

I'm a lap band patient, and I was always told to eat something like a protein bar before working out. It prevents a blood sugar drop during a workout and the protein never hurts!!! :)

I've heard carbs before and protein after. I've heard protein before and after. I really don't know.

But isn't it already too late if you're eating it?

I've heard that eating (I wasn't told anything specifically) is good before and after workout. Apparently, Jillian Michaels calls it the golden hour of eating.

there are 2 schools of thought on it, I personally do both before 1-1.5 hrs and after workout, that way you get the protein into the digestive tract both during and post workout.
