Hello all, reading through some of the post in here I read that taking too much protein or basically going over your daily goal prevents the weight loss even if you are not going over your calorie intake. Is this true? Your help on this matter is greatly appreciated.

My friend just saw a nutritionist yesterday and he told her to ease up on the protien-- to much protien backfires and locks you up- he told her more fruits and veggies--

excess calories from protein are converted to fat by your body, just like excess calories from carbs or fats are. It is, however ok to go over in protein as long as you are 1) not exceeding your overall caloric values, 2) not neglecting othe nutritional neccessities (like carbs and fats) and 3) are not consuming excessive amounts of protein. I have heard the rule is 1g of protein per 1 kg of body weight (a kg is 2.2 lbs.) I have also heard that you should not exceed 40% of your daily calories from protein. But the protein settings on here are really low, so make sur eyou are at least meeting that goal. good luck! :flowerforyou:

thank you for your responses, I will keep a close eye at my protein intake for sure, that's the only thing I seem to be going over all the time and I haven't loss any weight just maintaining it. So perhaps that's what's preventing me from shedding the pounds. I started fresh this week, like really keeping track of everything i put on my mouth. Weight day is on Saturday:frown:

I definitely think that I eat too much protein... I need to eat more fruits and veggies!
