Making up my calories

You read so many posts / articles re: you must make sure you eat your daily calorie allowance - does this even mean at the end of the day when I have a few hundred calories left I can have that Chocolate bar and it will still be ok?
I've only been using MFP properly for 2 weeks - and have actually gained 1lb. As I am in training and have significantly increased my exercise over the last few months, I can only assume my body was in starvation mode as I am certainly eating alot more now than I did just a few short weeks ago!!

For the first part, Yes, but why would you choose chocolate over the 1000's of healthy options to fill your calories.0

I have been told to not eat anything within at least one hour of going to sleep. Also, you may want to read the introduction on the message board for new members. It explains how eating to few calories can actually help you gain weight-which was my problem. I found it very informational.
I just joined MFP also and the support is great.
Good luck in your fitness journey.

As the saying goes : a calorie is a calorie is a calorie...
you can eat anything so long as you are under/close to your daily limit.
HOWEVER,
It might be worth looking at the nutrients in the food you are about to eat. Will eating that chocolate bar put you over your sugar and/or fat allowance for the day? Is the sodium in that meal worth it? Etc, etc.
So it comes down to you. I feel much better after a healthy snack of say greek yoghurt and blueberries than I do after chocolate.0 -
I looked at your diary for about a week just totals and I'm confussed In training for what ? some day 77 calories burned one day 1600 cals

Hi Jane
I'm in training for cycling across kenya in 12 months time.
My exercise can be a walk with the dogs - to a 45 min spinning session - to a 4 hour bike ride.
I'm still at early stages and so am not training every day just yet - just generally improving my fitness - hence the fluctuations in calories burnt - I need my recovery days!!0
