needing to 'go' while exercising in the morn?

Hi

This is a sensitive topic, mainly because it isn't one that is usually talked about, but I have to ask this as it is frustrating me no end!!!

Does anyone else have a problem when exercising in the morning (I get up at 5.20am/5.30am and go on the treadmill) and they have to go to the toilet 1/2 way through (or worse 10 mins before they have finished)??

My hubby and Mum said just to go but I am on a tight time schedule in the morning (hence the early time) and the break inbetween my exercising is the bit that is really frustrating me at the moment because thats when I have to stop exercising for that morning. I am only doing 30 or 40 mins but want to increase the time to about 1 hr soon BUT if I schedule my toilet break in then i will be up at 4.45am (giving me a good 10 min toilet break)!!!

I did get up earlier this morning and noticed that I only had 5 min to go before the urge, which may point to the fact that my body has a clock and it only goes at that certain time!! Who knows? Need to do more testing to see if this is true. Tomorrow I am up at 5.10am to see if I get to fit in the whole exercise time!!

I use to walk around the neighbourhood when we lived in the city and it happened then too - sprinting home because I was busting wasn't my idea of good exercise!!!

So, anyone else have this problem???

I've been wondering lately if it was just me, but now I'm glad it's not!!! For me, I've been training for a 10k and after about the 4 mile mark I have to go!!! Never realized this would happen before when I trained for 5k, but then that was only 3 miles, now that I've increased my distance it's really annoying to have to stop! The other day I was running in town and had to stop at Pizza Hut just to use the potty!!!! Embarrassing and frustrating!!!!

If I'm at the gym, I just stop and come back to what I was doing, but it's not something I want to do during my race! I have two months to figure out exactly what I need to do to make that not happen!!!!

Well... When you gotta go you gotta go. I suppose you could try taking anti-diarraheal(sp) medicine. I'd just go though..? Not much else you can really do. Try "going" before your workout maybe. Eat less fiber? Sorry. Can't think of any other suggestions.

With water consumption, I usually end up waking up having to go. So I'll wake up, go, then start my day. It's possible as well that is may ease up, if you stop food consumption earlier in the evening. But, there have been several studies showing this has little effect on actual weight loss, but thinking it may give your digestive system some extra time to work and get the food ready to be released.

If it's no 2's your referring too, some folk suffer "runners trots" due to the running motion ( up/down) which gets things moving then mix this with running first thing in the morning, which is usually when the majority of folk need!

I had a friend that used to go to a runners club and a poor lady that went along with her would have to take toilet paper with her cos she would get caught short (ewwww):noway:

Well I am soooo glad I am not the only one!!! :embarassed:

Maybe the fibre thingy will help - a small and early dinner at night! Might have to do a few tests on different foods and times to see what works..... I will keep you posted!!
