what are you thoughts on the best diet for shifting those pounds!!....normall i dont follow a diet plan, more just watch cal intake but maybe its still the wrong food, so i figue if i follow a plan i may get better results?!

it's whatever works best for YOU. . .nobody can tell you what's the best, it varies. . for me, it's moderation, cuz being told I can't have bread or chocolate, or cookies is a sure way for me to fail. 2 months now, haven't binged or fallen off the wagon yet, if I see myself doing it, I come home and do some extra workouts :)

    Good luck!

I agree totally with this. I'm trying to stay within the limits specified for carbs (I'm set to no more than 55% of calories consumed for carbs - within the 45% to 65% recommended by guidelines), protein and fat. I try to really limit my saturated fat intake and try to eat loads of fresh vegetables.

Having said that, I had a chocolate bar on Wednesday and my tutor for my evening class had made brownies last night so I had one of those - and I still lost weight this week. I put this down to making sure I eat really really well 90 to 95% of the week - and only have occasional treats (chocolate or wine usually!)

Maybe you could try to up your calories a bit and see if that helps. Or, you could try zig zagging calories (there is a thread on here for it, just search for "zig zagging."

    Good luck!

The best is a natural human diet, in other words what we as humans are made to eat. Cut out all processed sugar, flour, and high starch veggies (white potatoes), all veggie oils. Eat as natural and clean as you can, get your carbs under 100, and for a short time and quick weight loss bring them down under 50. Check out marksdailyapple.com for more and complete information.

7-10 days of NO CARBS will do it. Just fruits (but not after 2pm), all the veggies you can eat (ecxept corn), 1oz of almonds every other day (not after 4pm) and lean meats (chicken, pork, beef, fish, turkey breast). Fat Free cottage cheese, low or non fat cheese, non fat greek yogurt. That will do it. It's called the Ultimate Fat Loss Diet and it rocks.

Someone beat me to it, but I would highly recommend upping calories to 1400-1500 for a couple of weeks. If you do that, you'll probably still lose weight, but then if you go back down to 1200 it might make that more effective as well.

    Good luck!

Double your workouts and eat back the exercise calories and shock your sytsem a bit. If you always do the same thing over and over your body gets use to it. Wake up your metabolism.
  • My friend and I did this diet in preperation for her wedding that is coming up in April and I lost 40lbs and she lost a little over that.. the woman who gave us the diet actually lost over 100lbs with NO exercise at all.. My friend and I DID do the exercise just because we wanted to be SURE that the weight came off and we wanted to be in shape as well. So.. It's a very simple diet I was on it for three months lost 40lbs and when I stopped the diet I didn't gain anything back.. I maintained the same weight for about 4 or 5 months and now I'm back on the diet wagon to lose another ten lbs because the wedding is a month away! I've lost 4lbs since I've restarted. I hope you give this a try. GOOD LUCK!

    Breakfast
    4 oz protein 2 eggs
Starch 1 cup oatmeal w/splenda (or grits or cream of rice)

    Snack
    1st of 3 fruits banana

    Lunch
4 oz protein beef, chicken, shrimp
Starch 1 cup of brown rice (or a sweet or white potato or yellow rice)
    2 cups vegs zucchini/tomato (whatever)

    Snack
    2nd of 3 fruits 1 cup grapes
    Fat* 2 oz cheddar cheese

    Dinner
3 oz protein beef, chicken, shrimp
    2 cups vegs broccoli/tomato (whatever)

    Snack
    3rd of 3 fruits strawberries w/splenda
Dairy* 1 cup non-fat plain yogurt (because I like the consistency better)

*The dairy and the fat can be eaten at anytime during the day. Sometimes I will put cream in my coffee and then deduct that amount from my nightly yogurt serving. Sometimes I will have a salad with 2 tablespoons of salad dressing (no sugar) for my fat.

I don’t eat anything with white or wheat flour or sugar in it.

I DO eat an occasional corn tortilla for my starch…but not every day.

Corn, peas, and sweet potatoes and some squash are considered a starch not veggie.

Well,do you eat your exercise calories back? If you do, then that might be why you stopped losing weight. I'm on my last 6 pounds (finally) , I eat less that 1200 cal a day and exercise about 900 - 1000 on top of that(aboyt 3-4 hours a day). So my net calories are about 100-200, sometimes negative. Every day, no cheat days. I've only started doing in last Sunday, but in those five days I lost 2lbs. My idea is that if you havent got a lot to lose, then it wont hurt you to go very low cal/high exercise for a couple of weeks. Just get it done. And what I do eat is very healthy and nutricious, lots of veggies, lots of water, 5-6 small meals a day. Lots of protein, low fat (bit of a healthy fat), moderate carbs, high fibre. It works for me (I'm also 5ft). Good luck

Be aware: This can be considered compulsive exercising, which is a form of bulimia. The only reason I point this out is because this is what I did for a long time. After about 5 years, I gained 10 lbs and my metabolism is shot. Exercising 900-1000 calories a day and only eating that much is dangerous, even for a few days. Eat regularly, exercise smart, and stay away from fake, processed food that will make you retain water. Your body will thank you.

Can't see your diary, so I can't tell you about your food choices. You might look at trying calorie cycling.
