Sex and calorie loss

I was wondering if sex is considered a good exercise and how many calories do you burn?
I mean, that would be a lot better than running on a treadmill!

I was told about 348 per hour. So get busy. lol0

Of course there is some calorie loss, but it depends on how strenuous the "session" is. Missionary probably only accounts for 2 calories burned over 20 minutes:-)0
-
I don't see people logging that as exercise, but it certainly can't hurt so I say the more the better.0
-
Lmao I was wondering the same thing myself! Glad you had the guts to put it out there....but then not sure if I would wanna "log" my sex life lol0
-
Hah.. I told my boyfriend I was going to wear my HRM to bed. He laughed at me, but figured as long as there was still sex, he was okay with it. ;p
(Edit: No, I haven't done it yet.)0 -
Intercourse is a great source of cardio. So, have as much fun as possible.0
-
From all things that I have read, the calories burned are typically minimal.0
-
average sex is about 68 cals... i dont know how long of a sex session it is but thats average.... so you may want to get in some awesome foreplay! lol0
-
Log it in as wrestling if it's real heavy...
dancing if it's just moderate ;]0 -
Not enough calories burned to even count.0
-
google it ) there are websites that tell you what you've burnt depending on how stenuous it was... being on top can burn quite a bit lol raise that HR!0
-
I think it all depends on time and effort spent.. roughly you can burn MAYBE 64 calories per every 20 min. of intercourse, think about running on a treadmill.. how hard do you really have to work in order for that treadmill to read 100 calories burned.. most take at least 22 min. and when you get off you should be winded and pouring sweat.. if you can get the same results in a 20 min. sex session, you go girl!0

www.healthstatus.com will answer your question!0

http://www.healthstatus.com/calculate/cbc theres actually a calculator for foreplay and sex on here0

Log it as aerobics! And if your going to do it, you be on top. Wayyyyyy more calories burned0

Must be having some pretty lame sessions! hahaha0 -

I think an elliptical would be a much better source for calorie burn but have fun!0

You just made me CRACK UP at my desk at work! made my day...I could just see the look on my husbands face!0 -

WRESTLING? Jeez, you like the rough stuff huh?0 -
Mark it down as CALISTHENICS (SIT-UPS, PUSH-UPS). Yes, it IS a fat burner~~~big time. If you want more accurate calculations, you would need a top quality HRM watch or buy the BodyMedia device.0

eh, why bother? I figure it (like my weekly grocery trip) is calculated in my "life-style" selection0

Not really, I have 5 kids to prove that theory wrong LOL. Just saying to use it as a buffer instead of exercise calories.0 -
kissing alone is 15 calories. I was told a "normal" "session" was approx. 230 calories burned so I've been hoping that's accurate! If anyone finds a actual answer and the source to prove it - please post it!0

What about sex while on the elliptical? :bigsmile:0

Now that would be impressive LOL0 -
I don't log in calories for things that really aren't exercise, but part of daily life. I don't log in housework, gardening, chasing the kids around, or sex. And I'm sure that chasing the kids around burns WAY more cal. than any "activity" you could think of. But the only way I'd know for sure is to wear a HRM, b/c there is too much variation in any of these activities to accurately guess. I just consider those things "extra freebie burns".
Now, when I'm at the gym, sweating my butt off, feeling like I can't do one more rep, or another mile - THAT to me is exercise, and that gets logged.0 -

Exactly what I was trying to say0 -
