Candida Diet

Has anyone ever tried the Candida Diet? I recently went to Allergy Associates of La Crosse Wisconsin and had a severe allergic reaction to the skin testing, my largest ones being mold, pollen, and particularly Candida Yeast, in which I nearly fainted. My allergist recommended me to be on the Candida Diet, or a version of it. Since then (1 week ago today) I have been on a version of the Candida Diet, in which it's basically all natural, organic, not much bread, no alcohol, yogurt, cheese and the list goes on. I used to be on it from the ages of 5-16 due to my allergies, however they got better and now at 23 my allergies have gotten significantly worse. I'm finding it quite hard to eat, as I cannot have a lot of my comfort foods (which is a good thing I suppose!) I was just wondering if anyone else has had issues with their allergies and been placed on this strict diet?

I have gluten sensitivity (aka celiac disease, gluten intolerance etc.) however, because of my weight problem I have had issues with yeast infections in the folds of my fat (gross!! I know!). I have experiemented with the Candida diet but I thought I was going to die! I wish you luck! I couldn't stick it out very long. I know with my problem its a matter of life or death or even just happiness vs. being miserable 80% of the time. Did you doc. say if Apple Cider Vinegar would help you at all? I know that helped with some of my candida problems. I would also reccomend acidophelus (sp?) its for your intestinal track and helps with your immune system and helps clear out any candida living in your intestines0

I haven't done the candida diet but have thought about doing it for a while because I have a lot of the symptoms of a candida problem. I'm allergic to bakers yeast and a whole slew of fruits and veggies plus dairy. It is hard at first to change the way you eat...I had to stop eating a lot of my favorite fruits and that was hard for me but now I am used to it and I have made adjustments. I'm not entirely sure of all the limitations of the candida diet but is it something that is permanent or just until you get the candida out of your system? My naturopath said that once I could heal the lining of my stomach I could try eating some of the things i tested for. Perhaps if you follow the diet for a few months you may start to reintroduce some of the things you had to cut.0

Yeah, my allergist said that I would have to be on this diet for at least 3 months, until my next checkup/skin test/blood test. It's not supposed to be permanent..but there are a lot of benefits from it!! I've been pretty sluggish this past week because of my body expelling the yeast, but I'm starting to feel a lot better! It's also nice not putting all of that processed crap into your body lol The only thing I'm having issues with is not having wine with dinner or a beer after a long work week. Also cutting out a lot of fruit has been hard too. Glad to know there are people out there that also suffer from food allergies and such!

That's great you are feeling better! I eat a lot of fruit so I know it would be hard for me to give up but I guess if it makes you feel better it's worth it! I was so sad when my allergy tests came back and said i was allergic to bananas and pineapple and asparagus...among a bunch of others! I ate a banana every day and pineapple a few times a week! But I haven't touched any of those since last april and although i do miss eating them i have gotten used to it.0

I have also been told to go onto a Candida diet for at least a month as my blood allergy test came back showing that I have a lot of it in my system.
My Naturopathic doctor also has me taking some supplements/multivitamins and probiotics to restore my body to normal levels, however she told me that no one is perfect and that IF you MUST have something (dairy or wheat) to take a digestive enzyme and something else to aid digestion of lactose (Dairyaid or something like that from Seroyal)
she would however prefer if I just stick to the diet and not stray at all.0
