Weight Loss Goal in 6 Months - Unreasonable?

I've been on MFP for about 3 weeks, and I've had great success so far. It's been hard, but worth my time looking ahead to a healthier me! I'm currently about 197, and I have set my weight loss goal for 150 lbs. I'm about 5 feet 6 inches tall, and my time for achieving this weight is about 6 months. Is this a reasonable goal, or should I adjust?

You should expect to lose 1-2 pounds per week if you stick with a healthy diet and exercise routine. 47 pounds in 6 months should be possible, but know that the weight comes off slower once you have less than 20 pounds to lose.0

I would adjust. 47 lbs in 6 months is 7.83 lbs per month or almost 2 lbs per week.
That is really hard to maintain over such a long period of time. The weight comes off easily in the beginning then it gets harder.
One lb per week is easier to maintain long term.
But only you know what you can do so it's really up to you.
Good luck!0 -
Goals can be adusted as time goes on. As an OT, I am continually revising goals for my patients. I say keep the goal for now, and if your weight loss slows, then revise the goal in a few months. HTHs!0
