I worked out every day last week....and gained a pound at this morning's weigh-in. Very discouraging, but I will keep working it!

I honestly don't know how true it is...but they say muscle weighs more than fat. So you may be losing fat and gaining muscle! There have been a couple of times that I have weighed myself first thing in the morning, and then again right after I work out and I always weigh a couple tenths of a pound more.

Keep up the hard work, it WILL pay off!

You're building muscle girl and your body is probably holding on to some extra water. Keep working out. You are building muscle and it is a good thing. Muscle burns fast even after you stop your workout. Drink plenty of water and watch the sodium. You'd be amazed at what keeping sodium under 2000mg can do. :)

I'm sure you'll notice a big difference on next weeks workout. :)

I came across the followning quote that made me smile: "People often say that motivation doesn't last. Well, neither does bathing - that's why we recommend it daily." ~ Zig Ziglar

So, since we can all use motivation and/or a good laugh....

QUESTION OF THE DAY: What new quotes, anecdotes, or one-liners have you come across recently?
People are so worried about what they eat between Christmas and the New Year,
but they really should be worried about what they eat between the New Year and Christmas.
    ~Author Unknown

I think this summer challenge falls somewhere w/in that time frame, so we're doing good folks

  • Oooops, water...I am notorious for not drinking enough water! I will keep working out this week and focus on getting more water. Thanks, everyone, for your feedback!

Great job to everybody!! The first "official" weigh in will be next week since today is technically the "start" day. Obviously some of us had a previous weigh-in from earlier in the week.

So let's recognize our largest weight loss for our "unoffical" week. (Weight lost between 3/13/11 and 3/17/11)

:flowerforyou: Congratulations to our biggest loser of the week: "mjtmorr" with a loss of 5.4 lbs! We are all inspired!

    Have a great week everyone!

My "official" weigh day is today, Saturday, and I am disappointed in myself at 323, I was 2lbs lighter on Thursday AM, although 3.4lbs in a week is still not bad
????????????????My weight seems to yo-yo by a couple of pounds over the course of a week, Thursday I was 321, Saturday 323, and today (Sunday) 320 Since Saturday is my regular weigh day I have recorded the 323 as my weight for this week. ???????????

"Experience is a hard teacher because she gives the test first, the lessons afterwards."

BTW - In responce to Felicia's request for first names, mine is Mike

Just letting everyone know that if you have posted anywhere on this thread I have your info on my list and I'll post you in the next chart which will be tomorrow evening. Please know that tomorrow's chart will show all updated weigh-ins from 3/17/11-3/20/11. Our weigh-in window ends tonight at MIDNIGHT (Sunday midnight where ever you are...obviously we don't all have midnight at the same time). If you post your weight after I put up the chart on Monday, just know that I will save your info but I won't put up a new chart till the following Monday.

THIS WEEK'S CHALLENGE: Do not step on the scale more than twice this week.

Hold on to your hats ladies and gentlemen...this is going to be a tough one.

We all know that our weight fluctuates throughout the day and even over the week. Sometimes we get so caught up on weighing-in that we forget about that. Some of us might feel complelled to weigh ourselves all day every day and might get discouraged by what the scale says if it wasn't as good as it was the day before. Felicia mentioned earlier that she does weigh-ins for MFP on one day and weigh-ins for this challenge on another day. I do the same thing. :)

My challenge to you is to only weigh-in twice this week. I'll be weighing-in on Mondays (for MFP and another challenge I'm doing) and on Thursdays (for my Hot Mama's meetings and this challenge).

Also, I highly suggest weighing in at the same time under the same conditions.
Ex: First thing in the morning after using the bathroom.

BEST WISHES TO YOU ALL. Hope our first official challenge goes well.

  • I'm in. I enjoy a challenge and just hope I don't overdo the pressure on myself! It's my birthday on 23rd May and I'd definitely like a stone off (or more) by then! Beyond that I don't want to set any mini-goals until I see some movement, if that makes sense.

    Start weight (15/03/11) = 237lbs / 16st 10lbs

Those are my same weigh-in days! I'm eager to see progress so it's more of a challenge (for me) to stay of the scale than to eat right. Ha.

    Hi, and thanx
Yes, 14lbs to a stone. Tbh I don't really do pounds but the tickers, etc., seem to be made that way.

This week's challenge won't be too difficult. I usually only step on the scale for the weigh-ins for my challenges, which is four now. Wow, that's a lot lol. But, I'm not all that obessed with it all the time, as long as on my official days the numbers aren't too bad. Although, every once in a while when I feel like I'm doing good, I'll take a peek.
  • Joining! I'm a teacher as well and plan on being close to my FINAL goal weight by the time school is out (6/3) The Biggest Loser Competition ends the last week of April and I'll need another accountability after that!
