Vitamin Water/ Water per day?

Hey everyone,
So i'm just curious. Obviously on this site, it reccommends you to drink at least 8 cups of water a day right? I've heard from nutrition teachers that it is incorrect and that it is 8 cups of FLUID per day?
So Question number 1:
Do any of you count all of your fluids in the 8 cup count in your diary? like milk, juice, etc?
now the second part of my question is about Vitamin water. I work at a movie rental store where we only have pop, gatorade, and vitamin water to drink, so if i finish my water that i bring from home, i tend to pick up a vitamin water if i want something sweet.
Now because it's: vitamin WATER:
Question number 2:
Do any of you who drink vitamin water and count it as your 8 cups a day? (not in relation to my first question about fluids...just that because it is a "water" are you suppose to count it in your diary?)
The reason why i ask is i get bored of water really quickly. I've tried adding lemon, lime, strawberries, and other fruits to my water, which helps sometimes. I tend to only drink 4 glasses of WATER before i get sick of it, but i do drink different types of tea, milk, juice etc.. during the day to break up the water (i probably drink about 8 cups of fluid a day, but just not water).
i like the Aquafina Plus vitamin waters that i get at my work. I don't drink them all the time, but i will drink 1/2 a bottle to the full bottle in the day i buy one which is 2 cups of water pretty much.
Hopefully this wasn't too scattered.. I'm just curious?
Thanks

I do count my liquids as water. I also heard that was the correct thing to do. I know that water is the best, but, it is hard for me to get in 8. I could be wrong though... I'm new here!0

From doctors, I have been told 8 glass of WATER per day. I drink other stuff on the side, but I really try to get that 64 ounces in.
And for vitamin water, I was told to look on the nutritional facts. Unless everything is all zeros, then it doesn't count as water.0 -
I'd recommend getting at least 8 glasses of just regular water a day. Liquids like Gatorade, Milk, Juice, even soda hydrate you, but they just don't do it as well as water. So one glass of milk is not going to hydrate you as well as one glass of water.
As for Vitamin Water, it's just a name. It's not water anymore than gatorade or juice is. It's just better branding.
Try to aim for 8 glasses of water from regular water if you can. If you can't, supplement it as much as possible with other beverages that have the least amount of stuff in it (least sodium, sugar, fat, etc).0 -

That's true, now that i'm looking at my Vitamin water bottle, it doesn't even say that it is "WATER" Just the first ingredient is water, but it has a lot of flavourings and sugar and such.
Thanks for the info. I'll try and get more water in, it's just hard.0 -
I read some very interesting information on this topic in the book Fitness for Dummies. check out this website.
