Hi people!
I'm a Fathlete. :drinker:
Did an Ironman last year, still 20 pounds heavier than I wanted to be, if you can believe it. 15 hours and 30 minutes!
Anyone else train for endurance races (marathons, triathlons, etc.)?
If you deal with challenges related to training AND dieting, let's support each other! I'd love to hear how you deal with the stuff like gatorade/gels/powerbars, etc....

i am training for my first traithalon in July...it is def a workout.lol! I would love some tips, my hardest part is the running, I am having a problem with the breathing part, ugh! my body will go buit my lungs hate it. Strange I know. lol...any tips would be great!0

Ha, I'm the opposite. My lungs can go forever, but my legs get too tired lately since I started training again
I think the best thing I can tell you, especially if you're new to longer distances is to do intervals. Do 5min run/1 walk or 2/1 or 7/1 or whatever feels comfortable. The break is much better on your body and should also increase your distance capacity. For my Ironman I did 5/1's until I could only do 2/1's and by the end of the marathon I was running 1 minute, walking 5, lol0 -

I'm giving racing a miss this year until I have my body back in order... or maybe just one or two little ones like sprints or Olys.
Not sure I could train for an IM again. It's just such a huuuuuge committment. It broke me. LOL :laugh:0 -

Actually, after the horror that was a 1700 swim today, a 75 min ride yesterday and a 35 min run/walk today, I know I have a looong way to go.
Last year I kept a blog about my weight journey -- lost 25 pounds or so training....gained 1/2 back. oops

I've done a couple of sprints. I'd like to up that, but it won't happen until I drop at least another 25pounds!0

PMSL... isn't it funny how your perception if distance get totally skewed...!!! :bigsmile:
I remember driving to a place, basically doing the century ride route I used to do on the bike, and was really surprised how 'long' it was...
And the my friend just stated dryly... "well... it is a hundred miles!" :huh:
Yes a half is much easier to train for and to recover from.
I still get surprised when I hear that people actually "train" for a sprint. :laugh:0
