Girl... I suck at the elliptical after 30, and that's a stretch. Try doing multiple machines, for like 10 minutes a time. My Y offers killer classes.. have you tried them? Weights are great too.0

have you tried about take a class (spin, zumba, yoga, step...) to get in a workout instead? also you can try other machines, free weights... I am not sure where you live but you can always move outside to go for walks, jogs....so something outside...
switch it up.0 -
I tried some books on tape for my ipod that helped a bit when i got lost in the story. I try to mix it up on the machines to stay into it.
Like Jennw10 said switching it up works the best for me!0 -
I like everything you said about the eliptical..........except I get bored too!
For me, when I do it I just gotta get my head into another place...not easy.
i say mix it up more. try more variety??0 -
One suggestion: If you can, dump the Y and join another gym that has TV displays mounted on the elliptical (I assume the Y does not have it yet). At the gym I go they have that. I just put my earphones and I can go for an hour watching something of my choosing without even knowing when the time passed.0

Are you listening to music? I watch TV while I'm on my treadmill, and can go forever as long as I'm watching something I like.0

:flowerforyou: lift weights!0

when i do my treadmill i put george carlin or some other comedian on my mp3 player and it makes the time fly by!0

My YMCA has huge tv's....I'm not sure why people think that just because its a Y they dont have anything. And I agree with above, they offer awesome classes for very inexpensive. Try that! Good luck!0

No matter what my distraction, at some point i am always thinking exactly that - is this EVER going to end? I think breaking the time up with something like interval training helps me get through - like I'll do 5 mins at a certain pace, and then amp it up for 2 mins go hard core and make sure my heart rate is at max, then go back down again. That way I only have to do like 6 hard core bits, and I can say to myself "only 2 more to go". In between I distract myself with tv or music.0

I feel compelled to answer this because it's addressed to my suggestion. I am the "people" and that is not what I wrote.. I suggested the elliptical machines that have their OWN TV. Yes - it's on the machine. It if does and you can chose your channel, than by all means.
If there is a huge hanging' from the ceiling TV where you have to watch some boring cricket game with no control over it because the guy next to you loves it - when you prefer to watch something else to help time pass - than different story. Besides - was just a suggestion for boredom - nothing against the Y.0 -
Thanks for all your support and suggestions! i appreciate it all. Also i love ZUMBA... i go to it every Wednesday night! cant make it on Saturdays cause of work... But im still moving forward!0

I set goals for myself on the treadmill. Increase speed to way beyond my comfort zone for increased periods of time. Decrease the amount of time it takes me to do a mile, increase the number of calories I burn during a workout, etc.0
