Plateaus

Well . . . after being skeptical about plateaus--I mean it's just a calories eaten v. calories burned game, right?--I seem to have hit one. I am hovering at 199-201 and have not broken through at my usual 1-2 lbs/wk pace.

I re-did my settings and it reduced my calorie intake to 1790, which seems like it's getting low. I guess I just work harder at the eating and up the activity? The thing is I am always below my calorie allotment, and I am exercising 4+ days a week (and I mean hard).

Have you had plateaus? Did you have to do anything different to get past them? Or do they just hang there for a few weeks and then you start losing again?

Thanks.

Sounds like you're doing everything right. From all I've learned, one just has to wait out the plateau. Keep doing the good things and eventually (and it might take a couple of weeks) you'll start losing again. Reflect on how far you've come on this journey & don't obsess about this rest stop.

I've hit a plateu a couple of times during my journey. I usualy zig zag calories, up my water intake and cut down on sodium and it usualy sorts itself out in about a week.

Hiya, I know what you mean! Ihave reduced my calories by 150 (after about 5 weeks of no real loss) and mixed up my gyn routine. I'm now doing an intense workout for an hour a day (5-6x a week) made up of just 2 pieces of equipment, and making sure I dont use the same pieces 2 days running. Seems to be working now.

I increased my calories to get over my most recent plateau. I think the 1200 calorie level was putting me into starvation mode. Last week I went up to 1370, did not change my exercise routine (actually, worked out a little less than normal) and lost 3.8 pounds! I am interested to see if I can continue to lose again. I do not expect a 3lb loss every week, but boy was it nice to see this morning! I had been stuck for almost 3 weeks. Good luck!

I am at a plateau also and I know I have to change up my routine. I work out 4 days a week and usually don't eat my all my allotment of calories. I have only lost 1 pound in the last 2 weeks, but my total weight lost is 45 pounds. I think you should just hang in there and this plateau will pass.

From what I have read I believe that a plateau is caused by your body getting used to the amount of calories and exercise it is getting. Apparently mixing things up can get you through a plateau, e.g. changing your exercise from cardio to weights, or running to rowing. Maybe changing your ratios of protein:carbs:fat could help too.

When I changed to using the climb/step machine, from walking and rowing, I started loosing and a greater rate again. I think I will have to change again soon though :o) I do interval training as it is supposed to be a good fat burner, even after you have finished exercising.

I am having the same issue right now. I'm down 70 + pounds since June but I have not been putting up the numbers I used to. I am also floating between 190-200. Just can't seem to hit that 189 mark.. I lowered my calories to 1300 but I am thinking they are way to low since trying this my weight has gone up. I'm so confused right now so if you figure something out please let me know!! Thanks
