Hi there, I know this ins't diet related, hence it being posted in chit chat and I'm hoping someone knows the answer.
I would like to make some gifts for my nephew. Last time I made him some bibs but when he drooled the colour ran into his clothes! This time I want to applique some felt shapes onto baby grows. How do I stop the colour running? Pre wash hot? Or very cold?
Any advice appreciated!

i wish i could help ya! i'm not one to work with felts. i crochet. :) usually i'd check the wash directions of the felt or fabric
  • I know hot will make colors run, so always wash cold.

Make sure you use colourfast fabrics or maybe even dye your own and then wash a few times on a hot wash to make sure all the excess dye is out!!

Ive dyed cloth nappies and clothes and wool and this seems to work well.

Another idea maybe to use transfer paper so you can then just iron on your images? Ive made some pretty unique clothes that way!

Why not use applique patterns that you can do with scraps of material, other than felt?

I don't know if links are allowed but here's one to try: http://www.allcrafts.net/baby.htm .
