Is it wrong...??

So, i'm pretty much almost at my goal weight, which is 110 lbs, but sometimes i have doubts. Something in my head always tells me, okay, a few more pounds won't hurt, but i know it'd be bad to go below 110 because then i'd be underweight. but i'm really not seeing much of a difference from when i first started until now (i was 130 lbs). and i'm 5'5" by the way so i'm not too tall. what i really would like to be is 105...is that too bad? my boyfriend and his parents keep telling me i don't need to lose anymore weight and they think that i'm prone to becoming anorexic...then his mother (who's pretty much my mother now) gave me this whole talk about how she used to be anorexic and how bad it was, blah blah. but i assured her that i am not anorexic at all and that i know better than to let myself head in that direction. still...something in the back of my mind is telling me "you're not thin enough...look at all those models who are 5'10 and can fit into a size 2." so, i'm thinking maybe i can lose at least 3 more pounds after i have reached my goal, but not let them know. i'm doing it just for me. is that wrong??

You probably need to tone up.
If you're not seeing much difference after losing 20lb, then its possible the weight you've lost, has been muscle, and not fat

Clearly its a certain SIZE you're aiming for, so ditch the scales now, and get into a good workout groove to get nice and toned. You may even "gain" but don't worry! overall your shape should change

ETA: I'm your height, and I'm a US size 6 at about 150lb, and was a 0-2 at 135lb - so weight, doesn't always correspond to the shape you want, if you get what I mean. I'm 185 in my photo there - technically "obese" (yeah, right LOL)

Give it a couple months, at your current goal of 110, let yourself get used to that weight, maybe add some more exercise to help tone up, if you are not doing that now. Then if you feel you still need a few more pounds, five pounds won’t hurt, if however you get to 105 and feel you still need to lose more, then you have a problem. There is a thread on here someplace titled skinny fat, or something like that, you might want to look that up, body composition is much more important then weight.

I think if u r unhappy at the weight ur at now then u should exercise more to tone everything up... its not about the number.

    I agree with sassyg's advice.

Also, comparing yourself to people whose diet and exercise habits are world renown for being unhealthy is probably not a good idea. And I think that if you had to ask, you probably know the answer but maybe aren't ready to accept hearing it. Good luck to you whatever you choose to do.

I had the same thing happen when I lost a bunch of weight the first time. I always saw the "fat girl" and some people were telling me I was too skinny. Looking at the photos now I can tell that my muscle mass was quite low and I should have toned more, even though I am pretty athletic... I also think that my muscle mass was low due to an extremely restricted caloric intake.

So in short try to maintain and start toning. I bet thats all you need. And make sure you are eating enough calories to sustain your body otherwise you can tone all you want but you wont build muscle.

This is what I was thinking as I read the OP.

If losing 20lbs hasnt made much difference then another 5lbs isn't going to make "the" difference because its not a weight issue, its a case of toning up and getting your head in the right mode.

Its isn't always about what the scale reads... Did you know that Jillian Michaels is 5'2 120 lbs.. Toning is what your looking for not fat loss. I honestly don't think you have anymore to lose. I am 5'5 and would love to be at 130! Almost there!!!! I just want to be healthy and toned.

It s probably all in your head. I use to be 355-360 pounds. I am now between 301-303. When I look in the mirror, most of the time I still see the bigger person. Find an old picture and take a new one and compare the two. That should help. You should also check and see what your ideal weight should be. There is a tool on this site that should be able to tell you that. It is under the tools tab, the BMI calculator. It will go based on your height and some other factors. I am about 5' 4 1/2"- 5'5" and I have been told that my ideal weight should be 134. According to the BMI for my (our) height a healthy weight is 111-150 pounds. Dont go too far below, it can mess with your health just as much as being over weight,

Also, i bet if you changed your diet up, ate more real food and less fast/prepackaged, you'll notice a difference too.

I'm 5'5 and my goal is to be somewhere between 125 and 140. 105 would definitely be underweight, 110 is even pushing it. Eat your maintenance calories and do some weight training for at least a month. Don't look at the scale. Focus on gaining muscle strength and definition.

Agreed that scale numbers aren't a good measure of health. Though it's only a 5 pound difference between 105 and 110, you could look a lot leaner being toned at 110+, than just being 105 of pure weight loss, which would also include muscle loss. I certainly wouldn't advocate being underweight, but it is up to you.
