I just read this in my womens' health "12 reports" booklette I got in the mail today

"... But YOgurt can also play a key role inyour diet. [university study] found that people who added three servings of yogurt a day to their diets lost 61% more body fat and 81% more stomach fat over 12 weeks than people who didn't eat yogurt'"

So here's my deal ... does this mean PLAIN yogurt? cuz a lot of the yogurt I see is either full of Aspartame or Sugar ... both of which I try to keep out of my daily food intake. ... a lot of those sugar free foods full of Aspartame taste really funny to me ...

Any suggestions on a good yogurt that could assist with this stat with no Aspartame or Sugar?

I made a taziki sauce not long ago with greek yogurt ... it was pretty high in fat .. but they probably have lesserfat options eh? maybe add a few berries in it or something you're thinking?

I have not done it in a while, but I would get plain yogurt, and add honey and fruit to it myself. I think most of the sugar comes from the fruit and flavors that they add. I would get a large container of plain, split it into three tupperwear containers, and mix my own kinds. It is something that I really need to start doing again, and you just motivated me to put it on my grocery list. :)

I've followed this info about yogurt for a couple of years and it either works or sure didn't hurt. I went from a waist that was over 40" to now 26" just with diet and exercise. Yogurt isn't the whole story but it's part of it.

I use a non-fat Greek yogurt (Chobani) and add fruit, nuts, granola, and sometimes organic dark chocolate chips. My breakfast this morning is an example. That's another thing. I'm a big breakfast eater...

I make my own yogurt...its way cheaper and tastes so much better.
I line a strainer with coffee filters and dump yogurt into it. I set the stainer on a bowl and put it in the fridge overnight to strain. That is what makes greek yogurt, greek, straining the whey out.

This can be done with any plain yogurt. (I'm not sure about flavored yogurts or how those come out)

Any way then I have a good low carb, lower calorie yogurt that gives me a bit more room to add things to because I'm watching carbs and calories.

I really love it plain though so only once in awhile I'll make a yogurt smoothie involving greek yogurt, 1/2 banana, 1TBLS natural peanut butter, 1 TBLS cocoa powder and ice. YUMMO!

I can really go on about yogurt because imho it is a miracle food.

i use chobani as well & they have yummy ones with fruit on the bottom, or you can buy the plain or vanilla & people on MFP tell me they are good with berries or honey or granola on them, but i'm not a fan on their slightly bitter taste.

    i make my own yogurt, and i don't know what constitutes a serving - 8oz? 4? 12? I don't have a label to reference, obviously.

    I usually eat 6-8oz in a day.

Haven't seen that report, but I would be willing to bet it has a lot to do with the extra protein they are adding to their diet, and the probiotics. I would go with plan, then you can add whatever you want, stevia or honey, berries, whatever. I like Fage, it's a greek yogurt, without any additives. In fact I'm about to have some right now. Yogurt, a little cocoa, a pinch of stevia, strawberries, and blueberries. hmmm good.

I do this as well...4 oz. what I eat at a time and I make mine with 2% milk so I approximate my calories based on the Fage 2% greek yogurt label. Homemade yogurt is the BEST EVER!
