Wondering if anyone takes days off and still loses weight? If so, how many times do you take a day off from counting cals or exercising?

I log my foods every day...I have to for me to stay in habit. I did miss a workout two days in a row this week and lost a pound over those two days! I wouldnt recommend making it a habit though. But working out naturally boosts our metabolism so that we can have those days 'every now and then' without a workout, and still not necessarily gain weight.0

I have occasionally taken a few days off when there is some kind of special event. Not every week. More like maybe 2 days a month. And i try to still make fairly sensible food choices. Before my diet i always ate pretty healthily anyway. But i don't deny myself.
i just got back from such a non-dieting weekend and still lost half a pound.0 -
I count my calories even on my "bad days" of eating. Seeing how much "damage" I've done holds me accountable. I also learn just as much from my bad days as my good. I have a better understanding of just how much damage is in bad foods so I can make more educated decisions in the future.0

I take one day off a week from exercise, but count my calories every day as I go if I can. I have lost weight every week so far.0

I take days off exercising when my body tells me it's darned tired. That usually happens about once a week on average. I seem to still do alright when I rest for a day since my metabolism doesn't just drop when I skip a day. Eating though, if I don't stay within my calories, I do gain even when I put in the exercise. When I took a day off from counting and ate what I liked to a comfortable level (i.e. allowing myself that cake or steak, but not eating til I hurt), I gained a pound which I shed after a week of good behavior. For me that one day was very much worth it for my mental health since I can get obsessive about the counting. I think you should experiment and find out what works for you. The key is that you should remain in control-- you make the conscious decisions, you be able to start or stop when you choose, and you be fully aware of the consequences. Don't let the emotions or the food take control.0

Days off are OK as long as you have the right mindset. If you're thinking of it as a 'cheat day' or an opportunity to 'break the diet' then that's probably not a good thing. But if you're aiming for a long term lifestyle change, it's fine to take a day off from counting calories every once in a while. I made the mistake of NEVER taking a day off and becoming way too obsessive, to the point where calorie counting was doing me more harm than good. Just be practical about it and try and do what's best for your body
Oh, and to answer your question, yes I still lost weight when I took days off! Our bodies always benefit from shaking things up a bit.0 -
I will be taking a few days "off" from tomorrow, simply because I am away (abroad) and won't have internet access.
I'm still debating with myself whether I will be logging on my phone offline, or just leave it for a few days and be as good as I can, I reckon it's going to be the latter.0 -
I find if I take a day off from counting calories once a month or so I do much better than if I don't. Even if I always stay within my calories - the obsession tends to make me gain weight (weird I know). So if I take some time to just BE I lose weight easier.
As far as working out, I try to do some activity every day, but actual working out is only 5 days a week b/c weekends around here are kinda hectic and I have a hard time fitting in the time.0
