Carbs Farbs....

The past two days I have gone over in carbs, and I hadn't been in the past few weeks. I don't feel that I have eaten too unhealthy (ignore yesterday-at 7pm I had 500 cals left to meet goal so decided to 'graze' through the cabinet to try to get closer to goal), but when I noticed today was over on my carbs as well...it sort of surprised me.
Is watching carbs really a huge deal? Or should I just pay attention to the good ol' calories in-calories out?

I personally believe carbs can cause you to gain weight....they make you hungrier. Also, I wouldn't "graze the cabinets" eating food you don't want. Your body wasn't designed to eat exactly 1200 calories every day. That's why people plateau. Some days you're hungrier than others....go with the flow. A set number of calories is a guideline to help wih portion control and making good nutritional choices.0

I have not really been watching my carbs and have been doing great. I think as I get closer to my goal it may become more important (I'm still researching) but for my intitial 30 or so Lbs it has made little to no difference at all.
I like carbs and I'mma eat'em. And frankly if I never get below the perfectly normal weight I am now, but still get to eat Pizza... well I've come to terms. There has to be a line determining what we are willing to trade off for a "perfect" body. Just my $.020 -
I have only been successful on low carb diets. I can have fat and lose weight, but not carbs. I also feel less hungry on low carb.0

I'm personally strictly limiting my carbs (about 17-20g a day). I've been researching the effect of carbohydrates on the body and how unnatural they are to us as humans, perhaps do a bit of browsing on the internet. I recommend watching your carbs, that's only my opinion. (But not restricting them like I have; I went insane for a day when I went from about 200g to 50g.) I've lost about 7 lbs since I started my restriction three days ago.0

Our bodies NEED carbs!! My father-in-law is diabetic and that was the first thing I thought. No carbs, no sugar. Well, experts advise to follow the food pyramid and eat a balanced diet. And include exercise of course. I think the main thing is to try to eat healthier-get your carbs from wheat bread and whole grains instead of wonder bread and candy bars. For me the sweet spot is balancing my proteins and carbs to stay feeling satisfied and never have those big huge crashes and hunger crazies that cause me to dry to Dairy Queen for a blizzard!
As far as carbs causing you to gain weight...a calorie is a calorie is a calorie. If you could eat 3000 calories worth of broccoli a day and you only burned 1000 you would gain weight. You would also probably puke! lol.0 -
Low Carb is something I strive to do but, right now, I stick with "healthy carbs". I used to not understand the hold that food had over some people until I tried to do the low carb diet. Now, I understand. Like I said, I've managed to keep it to a minimum but I'd like to work my way into the Primal diet or something similar.
Not to mention I'm convinced that if I want to achieve the body that I want I need to get rid of carbs. I don't think I can get to where I ultimately want it to be unless I make those changes. Other people may be different.0 -
There are certain types of carbs that cause blood sugar spikes. One shouldn't eliminate all carbs. But eat healthy ones, fruits vegetables and whole grains. Avoid refined carbs like white rice and pasta, opt for brown rice and whole wheat pastas but use your carb allowance on fresh vegies.0
