too lazy to cook / eat healthy???
I think that is my biggest challenge. And I don't know if it's so much laziness or lack of time!!!:grumble:
Ugh! I wish I had an at-home cook!!! Any ideas? Maybe I should try Super Suppers or something like that.

I couldn't understand this anymore! This happens to me ALL the time! And my husband is just as bad! SO...those nights we usually go out to eat...and this is okay as long as I am good and conscious about what I order! But I feel your pain darlin!0

LOL, I go through those days EVERY day! I'm forever telling people that my husband didn't marry me for my cooking!!! :laugh:0 -
OMG are you in my house right now???
I have only been to the drive through of McGags today. I had a plain burger, a few fries and a diet coke. I didn't even play with my happy toy. I went IN my workout pants (which I slept in...but put on clean before going to bed, mind you. lol) and a tank top (which is part see through, so I threw a workout bra on)...I brushed my furry teeth, and combed my wild hair... I e-mailed a grocery list to my DH (my max effort right now)...
And then hurried home to avoid the small sprinkles which I kept referring to as "rain" today to avoid the kids who wanted me to do some sort of activity today. I also explained that I am saving myself for the canoe trip tomorrow. LOL
The dog had a seizure today so I didn't want to go anywhere anyway, so now I'm sitting again! I've watched Star Wars today, Barbitopia, played toss the dominoes...Umm...I had coffee, a bag of apples left over from McGag's...and... I think I have surfed every funny photo on the Internet today.
Oh...and I pulled 10 dishes out of the dishwasher.
Now...So how lazy do you feel? :laugh:0 -
Haha! I don't feel QUITE as bad but still bad...
It's just that I work til 5:30 every day then go pick up my son from his school. By the time we get home it's 6:00 or after... well my child goes to bed at 7:30! 7:30!!! I hardly have time to eat a meal... let alone prepare it!!! So almost every night we scramble for... well... whatever is easy and fast.
I feel like we are in a mad rush to eat, get him a bath, and get him to bed. It's not until he hits the crib that I finally take a breathe.
I know what you are going to say and I've tried the weekend cooking thing and eating leftovers but 1) my hubby is not a big fan of leftovers and 2) we are so busy on the weekends that I FORGET!!! How lame is that!?!?!!????
I'm frustrated.:frown:0 -

On game days during school I use my crock pot. It is just too busy around here with sports and kids...So I have found better ways to cook just about anything in that pot! YEY! Healthy ideas too! You might look for a crock pot and book the next time you are out and about. YUM!0 -
I actually do have a crock pot... is there a good "healthy" crock pot cookbook to buy???0

Hey peachy friend!
Ok...can you do a day of prep for the full week?
Bag lettuce; chop tomatoes, cuc's, peppers, etc on a day; got a bag of frozen cooked chicken strips...cook in microwave 2---instant salad...whole wheat croutons
Frozen salmon....pop in oven with a little bbq sauce, ginger, and rice wine vinegar mix together.... salad or asparagus (quick in pan or roasted in oven w/ balsamic vinegar)
I also LOVE my chicken wrap---same bag of frozen cooked chicken strips---sauteed w/ peppers and mushroom...then wrap up with sprinkles of goat cheese or allouette....
these are easy things I can do with 3 kiddies running loose......and aren't too bad pre-prepared.....
I also make my menu out a week ahead of time so I am prepared for dinner and have everything on hand!!!
:flowerforyou: good luck!!0 -
I'm just a really creative cook and good at it too..
I have just changed out many of my recipes to work with my crock pot. You can do anything from brownies to tea! It is amazing what you can google or guess and change your own foods.
It isn't always my favorite way to cook, but sometimes when I have day after day after day of running kids around, base stuff, and life, it's great to have a meal ready to go.0 -
I totally feel your pain! You should check out one of those places where you go and make meals to freeze. Then all you have to do is take it out of the freezer in the morning and spend 15 mins cooking it when you get home. It works really well. If you don't want the cost of going to a special place you could make up a bunch of your favorite dishes and freeze them. There is still the time issue, but you can choose the time rather than having it be every night when you get home. I've done freezer meals before and it worked well. It is just a matter of picking a day to do it, and you can do a week or a month at a time!
The crock-pot idea is great too because you can prepare the food the night before (after the kiddo is in bed )and put it in the fridge. Then all you have to do is plug it in in the morning!
I think we all have weeks where we want to just put in a frozen pizza every night, but we all know wherer those frozen pizzas end up! I'm sitting on a few right now:laugh: Eeek!
Good Luck!0 -

This totally made me laugh out loud!!! Thanks!
I think I'm the only person on the planet who hates pizza. LOL I can say this about many other foods though!0 -
First of all like DUH! Yeah we ALL have felt that way and I do not care if you know the constand bubbly girl that seems to have it all together, SHE has those days as well. That is life dear so as other posts have proven, YOU ARE NOT ALONE!
As for Crock Pot cook books... Go on line and see what they have first check out sites like Shape and Muscle and fitness hers ECT.
Crock pots are pretty easy things...
fill crack pot 1/4 to 1/2 full of water or chicken broth. Add meat (ANY KIND), veggies, and herbies, set on low if you are doing an all day thing, set on high if you want it faster.
By the evening, There you have it good simple good for you food!

Funny how things can be so true!! Glad I could brighten your day! I love how easy it is to relate to everyone on this site. It makes the challenging days so much better!:happy:0 -
I understand completely. I pre-cook lots of things, brown rice being one of them - I don't have the patience to cook brown rice every night :grumble: so I make a bunch and pack it in tupperware. BAked potatoes and hardboiled eggs keep well over the week. I keep salad handy, thats easy, but my favorite 'fast food' is those Birds Eye Voila meals. The chicken/cheese with veggie mix was only 210 for a cup, so I was happy at 1.5 cups and a big salad. There are many different varieties and brands (and calorie diferences)so you have to shop carefully.0
