Advice please you special peeps! I'm currently on 1200 cals a day and constantly hungry... Should I up my cals to 1400 for a week and see how I go?
I'm losing about 2lbs a week at the moment (probably not this week as TOM is here) and I'm usually under my goal but I just seem to be so hungry!

when yo say you are under your goal, do you mean under 1200?
I would change it so your goal is to lose 1.5 lbs per week or 1 lb on here... it may up you to 1400 but i am not 100 percent sure as its different for everyone. I was hungry a bunch and then changed my goals and now I am doing really well. It may or may not work for you.
Also try adding more fiber into your meals, spreading out your meals and calories, as well as lots of water. I am not sure how or what you are eating but i hope this helps.0 -
I would do just that, especially if you're working out, that's why I strive for and I work out usually 5-6 times a week for a least an hour, and I've been pretty steadily losing 2 lbs a week at that. I do go over on some days though. My food diaries are open if you'd like to look, and you can always friend me if you like, I love to support and be supported!0

are you trying to eat the right kind of slow burning foods to keep u full for longer???? carbs tend to give u short sharp bursts of fuel . but burn out quickly , making u hungry again .. try things like porridge that release energy slowly0

If you are happy to reset your goal to 1lb a week, why not? It may save you losing motivation and giving up, but hey, this isn't EASY right, or everyone would be the perfect weight - are you having six small meals a day? that helps, plus maybe doing some walking or something to take your mind off hunger - lots of water also...0

Sorry - when I say I'm under 1200 I mean 1200 net...
I drink around 1.5-2 litres of water a day...
My recommended calorie intake that mfp suggests is 1520 a day to lose a projected 2lbs a week... Should i try this as mfp suggests?0 -
Hey honey xxx,
as you know i was platauxing for like 3 months and tried everything yehhh,i broke it this week YAYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY at last with upping my cal intake,i was eating like 1500 and then min exersicing 400 cals but not eating those which then took my body into stavation mode!!!(even if i thought i was just being good)! lol
so i upped my cals now to 1800 and do more exersice(j/m shred and walk 40 mins a day)everyday and i am well under calorie goal everyday but am now loosing agian
sounds silly but it works also if i was you also i would try more "proper food" in your diet also as that way WHEN you hit your goal you dont have to relearn how to eat healthy all th time..if you know what i mean!!!
if you need a few self adapted recipies from me just ask...i'm sure i could write a cook book by now lol0 -

no need to apologize just checking...
try upping it for sure... the other thing I have noticed for me..is that as i lose this weight, i get hungrier but the less cals i get...its such a cruel trick i tell you... definitely add more fiber into your meals and protein...filling items that are low cal... it will keep your fuller longer and hopefully work.0 -

This is what I am doing, I just had to go back to 1lb/wk and I am doing much better! I agree, it's better than losing motivation from being frustrated and giving up...hope this helps :ohwell:0 -
Thanks for all your replies! I've just set my calorie intake to what mfp suggests and I'm going to see what happens for the next week and then rethink if it all goes wrong! Trial and error as they say!
Will also up my fibre intake too...0 -

Yes!0 -
Absolutely up your calorie intake, at 1200 cal you are starving your body. I am currently like 178 and am supposed to be on a 1200 calorie plan and all sites including my doctor said they do not recommend anyone eating that low of a daily caloric intake bc it isn't enough for your metabolism . )
He says up calories a lil and just work em off.0 -
If you are active I imagine you will still lose weight on 1400 cals. 2lbs a week is a lot. I am set to lose a lb a week, and it's telling me 1200 cals, but I am only losing 1/2 a lb a week at that level.
See if aiming to lose 1lb a week helps. If not, remember, hunger is your friend!0
