So tomorrow I'm walking at Relay for Life at my local university thanks to my jobs donation and involvement. I walk from 4 am to 6 am with my iPod and white Relay t-shirt.

I'm challenging all of you, especially those who slack sometimes like myself, to walk one mile at the very least. Get your iPod and hit a scenic path you fancy. Walk around your block. Just contribute to your body as I strive to do so and tomorrow, for a noteworthy cause!! :drinker:  :drinker:

Good luck tomorrow! I think it's great when people are a part of these events. It makes us so unaware of ourselves for awhile and focus on those who have more serious trials in life than we might have. I will walk at least a mile in support!

Thank you very much. Usually I would be naive and just not really show interest. However, earlier this year my grandmother who raised me had an abnormal papsmear. They said she had cancer cells. We got a second opinion and through the grace of God, there was no more of those cells. Those two days of hearing the news made my world fall apart. I wouldn't wish that anxiety on an enemy if I had one.

Thank you for your promise. It does mean alot to me. I better go to bed. :embarassed:

Thanks for doing something that makes a difference. It is easy to say "oh I'm so sorry for those people," it is much harder to get up and do something at 4 am.

<~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~My DH was diagnosed with cancer the day my daughter was born.

My kiddos and DH have walked it for years. It felt good knowing that I did Relay for Life, before, during, and after his treatment and now remission! YEY US!...I LOVE hearing about people keeping the interest up! Thanks friend!

He's been my best friend since high school, and we've been dating since our senior year...it has been over 18 years...Wow...That would REALLY stink for us without people walking!

thank you so much for contributing your time for such a worthy cause!!!

July 21, 2005 (two days before mine and my father's birthday) he was diagnosed with leukemia. I had just graduated from high school and was scared out of my mind for him. He had been sick for months; but his doctors did not do the appropriate tests until the summer. His doctors waited a few months before starting chemotherapy because the cancer wasn't "bad" enough to risk losing all the good blood cells. (this still doesn't make sense to me; but hey... im not the doctor!!) He went through six months of chemotherapy and still goes in for maintenance; but he has been cancer-free for over a year now! yay dad! lol... it was so hard seeing the man who was such a tower of strength in my life looking so vulnerable and run down.... good luck to you tomorrow at relay! have a blast!
  • God Bless you all and much oblige to those who have responded. It was nice getting to see the sunrise but I'm a bit tired today.

I just recently walked in the relay for life in memory of my Grandma and Grandpa Brooks, who both passed from lung cancer. Also in honor of my sister in law, who came along beside me in her wheelchair (a survivor of a brain tumor) and my aunt ( a survivor of breast cancer). But everyday that I walk (usually about 5 k's) I will keep cancer victims in my thoughts. It hits really close to home!!! BTW, my sister in law is 5 years cancer free now, she is still in a wheelchair as she does not have full use of the muscles in her legs yet, but she is very happy to be alive!!

Congrats to you on your contribution!!

we walk Relay for Life every year here in Maryland - thank goodness ours is earlier in the year and not so hot!!

Everyone should find a local Relay for Life team and participate (local schools and businesses) - it is a great event and benefits so many people that touch our lives everyday.
