Great start, but faltered

Hi everyone. I got started here last week at the invitation of my Southern cousin. I am 60, 5'8", and have just 30 pounds to lose to get to a healthy weight but every one will be a struggle. I am reasoanably active -- walking at least a couple miles outdoors every day with my dogs, through cold New England winters and muggy summers. I had lost 5.2 pounds in the first week, but too much pasta Sunday and binge eating Monday night put 1.5 pounds back on. Would love some tips on how to resist the cavings for carbs, salt and sugar.
