Different Values for the same food

Hi

I noticed that there are sometimes different Calorific values for the same foods in the database.

Example.....Nimble-Wholemeal Bread.......1 Slice 40 Calories (Input by me and taken from the package)
*Nimble Wholemeal-Bread.......1 Slice 41 Calories

OK, it's only 1 calorie but, other foods can be as much as 20 0r 30 calories difference, so why the difference and which one is correct?

I usually stick with what's on the packaging, although here in the UK, there is less information than is sometimes on the USA packages.

I have noticed the same thing. Not sure if is a packaging differance between labeling in different countries, or if it's just a mis-input by someone logging in a new food. I would just go with what you input. That's what I do.

I also just found out that you can correct something that you find is wrong in the database. Check out help area of the message boards.

    :drinker: cheers

    BTW...

I don't know where that photo was taken, but it looks so relaxing.

    Hi
The photo was taken on Clearwater Beach, Florida, just before we entered the Bar (behind me) for a cool beer.

"Just before we entered the bar" Now, that's the way to relax! LOL

I used to live in Chesterfield, VA......just thought I would throw that out there...a far stretch from Chesterfield England.

You do have to be careful because any member can add foods into the database. I have seen some CRAZY values-you know there's no way they can be correct. If something is a little sketchy, just recheck your package or find it on another site like calorieking dot com for comparison!

And I agree, the pic does look relaxing...especially with the cold beer part!!

Believe it or not but I have entered foods from the label and then happen to check it to make sure and the label changed, ie 1% cottage cheese said 80 calories & when I checked it the next time the label said 90 cal & on breakfast ham slices the same thing happened. My explaination is the Calorie Police caught up and corrections had to be made LOL

When on vac in May a loaf of bread had a large 35 calories on the wrapper but when I looked at the label it said 40 cal go figure :ohwell:

We can only do the best we can with what we've got!!

Chesterfield VA is a long long way from Chesterfield England, around 4,500 miles I think

I LOVE the US and Florida in particular, as I have a good friend there and he lets me stay for FREE.

Next trip planned for Feb 27th 2009............Clearwater here I come (again)....get the beers in (well just one)
