Thoughts? I just started reading Eat Stop Eat and have found it interesting so far. Wanted to hear other people's experiences with it.

Check out the 'Eat Stop Eat' thread, it's massive and has a tone of supporters and info for those who don't know much about it.0

I'll look it up right now, thanks.0 -
I'm currently reading Fast Your Way To Health by Lee Bueno. I did a "one day" fast last week - was reading the book the night before and just thought I'd see what would happene if I didn't eat the next day. I drank water, plenty of hot tea (my beverage staple anyway, lolol!). I decided I would go ahead and eat when I truly felt hunger - but I've been eating for "non-hunger" reasons for so long that I think I forgot what "hungry" feels like, lol!
I NEVER felt hungry that day - in fact, as the day went on, the more energized I felt! The next morning I was not feeling starved but I did have an appetite, once I recognized that's what it was, lol! Ate a nice oatmeal and fruit breakfast (my own, not fast food, lol!) One of the best days I've had in a long time, health-wise. Truly I felt great all day and am planning to fast again soon.
Will be interested to see what others have to say on this thread, thank you for starting it!

Good to hear such good things about it! I don't think I'll try it out until I read the whole book, I have so many questions still, and maybe I'm still a little skeptical too. So far a very interesting read though. Does your book say anything about how many days week to fast, and is it a 24 hr thing, or more/less? What do they have to say about starvation mode?0 -
I've been doing it one or two days a week for a couple of months. I also feel really good on my fasting days. I think reading the whole book helped me realize that there are so many health benefits from fasting. Brad Pilon outlines all of those benefits in the book and provides research to back it. A few times I have truly felt hungry towards the end of a fast, but after I drank something I realized that it was maybe more thirst. Doing eat-stop-eat has really helped me get more in tune with my body. I know people say that its crazy and unhealthy to go without food for that long and you'll go into "starvation mode", but the book provides all kinds of studies that dispute this. I even workout like usual on fasting days. I do mine from 2pm-2pm. I have a normal lunch one day and then a late lunch the next day.0

I have done ESE since December last year. It is easy enough to do, and Brad has the science to back it up. If you go to a place like leangains.com you can find yet another approach to Intermittent fasting as well. There is also this good article about the Myths about fasting which includes a couple of other myths to boot. It is well worth the read, http://www.leangains.com/2010/10/top-ten-fasting-myths-debunked.html0

I guess I liked it so much I had to post it twice
BTW I am on a fast day today and feel fine. I will do another one Thursday to Friday since I have my annual medical Friday AM and need to fast at least 12 hours before anyway for the Cholesterol test.
I find during fasting I have lots of energy, my mind is quite clear, and I can focus on other things than eating which is a good thing since being part of MFP tends to make me and many others obsess over food a bit too much or in some cases a lot too much.0
