Hi everyone! Just had a beautiful and brisk 2 1/2 mile walk out here in the country. Saw lots of wildlife including deer, rabbits, pheasants, and other birds. I am leaving for 4 days to go motorcycling through the Black Hills and was wondering if other MFP kept record of what they eat while gone and record it when they get home, or do you just skip it and try to eat healthy and just pick up where you left off when you get home? My husband and I are celebrating 17 wonderful years together by putting on our leathers and riding all over the hills:heart: Thanks for any input!

Hi, I tried keeping track when were gone on vacation visiting family, but it takes too much time, rather enjoy the time with the family having fun, so I try to eat really healthy, make smart choices and get in a few walks here and there. It seems to work for me, then when I get home I just start over and begin a new week of logging. But at the end of that week, I check my reports just to make sure I'm still on the right track with exercise and weight loss.

Congrats on 17 years, my husband and I celebrated 12 in April, it felt so good :)

Thanks for the info. I looked at your profile. You have 5 beautiful kids!! That's amazing--you are a busy woman. I stay at home too (as often as I can--seems I'm more of a driving service--especially since living on a farm:happy:

I think you should just enjoy your vacation, try to make good choices, and start logging again when you get home. If you have any room to pack anything, throw in some low-cal granola bars or something so when you are hungry you don't have to choose a snack at a gas station. This works great for me on vacations. I also made it my goal to just maintain my weight while I was gone. Have fun! I used to live in Rapid City and LOVE the Hills. What town are you from? I live in Brandon now, but I sure miss the Hills.

I hate to be the wet blanket but a small pocket spiral and a pencil goes along way. I will never diet again! This is lifestyle change. Forgive the comparison but you can ask any ex-alcoholic and they will tell you that you can't go to AA forever! So by that I mean you are changing a lifestyle and retaining yourself and your body. You can't log forever and you can't diet forever and I feel there is a curve where at some point it will become ineffective. So look at this as an opportunity to ride without the training wheels. Record everything in your spiral and bring it home and spend a day sorting it out and logging the week or 2 your gone. It will give you insight as to how far your eyeball or food vision has been retrained and you won't undo all the progress you have made. It will also give you a written record of everything you ate while traveling not to sound all gloomy Gus but have you looked at the amount of food poisonings going on out there especially for travelers. That little spiral could save your life in some backwater emergency room somewhere. Have fun!

    Working to a new me!

I would have totally been just have a great time but after reading dietthree's ideas it kinda makes sense.
    1. - you'll stay in tune with what you are putting in your mouth
    2. - kinda like a pop quiz on how much you've learned
    3. - neat way to keep you honest with your lifestyle change

Not a bad idea.... have fun which ever way you decide to go... life is about being in the moments, enjoying your time and not letting food control you.
